Can't wait until he Googles secant and tangent ogives, tapered throats and ball seat throats......7mm and 222 huh? Which ones?

It won't be interesting SammO, but it might be entertaining....... grin

You can reduce the pressure and increase penetration with a little KY. If you happen to be out you can borrow some from Oldman.

The TTSX is just a ripoff copy, with a bit of tin removed, of a bullet designed by Charlie O'Neil and fired by Elmer Keith 73 years ago. The bullet is described in the April 1937 issue of American Rifleman.

(2004 thread: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/391697)

O'Neil may have gotten the idea from Grove Wotkyns, who supplied the bullets for Elmer's expedition with a 220 Swift. The description was published in the July 1937 American Rifleman.

Can't be true, Bullshooter, the oldpompoustwit pioneered the use of the TTSX.

Great stuff!!!

They do have that edge in the marketing realm for those who are visually swayed. (I also happen to think Barnes ripped off Nosler's most handsome Ballistic Tip color scheme when they did the TTSX ; Heck, I'm planning to build a 250 Savage just so I can shoot those pretty bullets laugh ).

You're not changing the bore diameter, or groove depth or width, just the angle that the amount of lead-in the bullet is using to enter the bore.

Run the trig out and tell me the difference. It's next to nothing over such a short distance of travel.

I don't believe you are understanding the process. At the point of ignition, if the chamber pressure spikes due to excessive contact by the bearing surface, that pressure does not just disappear. It drives the projectile at a higher velocity than intended down the length of the barrel. Not only is the chamber subjected to this pressure but the entire barrel.

Doing this repeatedly over time creates accelerated throat errosion and signficantly reduces barrel life. It also leads to more fouling and in a worse case scenario, can damage the bullet causing erratic flight characteristics.

Let me know if you need it explained further.

So in short, you have no [bleep] clue.

Thanks for clearing that up and proving you have absolutley no idea what amount of angle change would result in pressure spikes within a given caliber because you're merely speculating, rather than backing your theory up with hard data.

For the record, there's nothing that you could explain to me.

I was waiting to get on this site until you were gone, but I guess I signed up too quick.

As I said, there is no reliable statistical data on the bullets.
If there IS, why don't you publish it..... say at least 1000 head of big game shot with it...... Waiting.......

You will recall, regardless of you "experts" picking the flyshit from the pepper, I never said they did not work BUT their superiority or even equality to Barnes is unproven.

You use them all you like, I'll stick with proven technology.

Three one shot kills....

What caliber are those 3 bullets and what was the approximate impact speed?

On my screen they look like copper that's been burned. Must've been a hot load!

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.
