Old Enema,...it's NOT about "Identifying" anything,...it's about putting your money where your FAT mouth's been.

Let's have a real Rifle Match,......"03s, any range, any sights.

I doubt you and your bum boy would make a pimple on a Snipers Azz.

Basic entry $1K,....thereafter, $20 a shot seems to be a good place to start.

I'd really like to see LOTS of "Cold Zero" action,....those kinda' stunts should start at $50

Shut your trap about "Iding crap,...and clean the old relics,.....come show us what your made of,.....if it's anything but a lotta' wind.

My old Dad called guys like you ,"The big Bazoo".

I think your an Azz-whole.

Teng joo all, bery mucho, por de BERRY nice Peekchoors !

....now on to part 2,.....I'll toss the Part 1 in by way of keeping track.

***************

I had a real passion for 1,000 yard shooting, when I blew back into the land of the free.

88 rounders on Historic Ft. Huachuca were a HOOT !,......and what had been our "Practice Day" evolved into a "600 yard Accurate rifle match". I built a small fleet of "Portable" Benches ( you can't replicate an 800 lb. cast concrete bench )
....the order of the day was any rifle, any sights, any target,......this was before the introduction of "F Class", and I think that light was goin' on in a lotta' heads, all over the U.S. than ( 95-96 ?)

Anyhoo that's where I was hangin' and playin.....when "Big Green" came together. 600 Yards is a fair kinda' shot,.....outside of bein' 400 short of the real thing. I wanted to shoot 1000 yards, and was not financially able to go the conventional money pit route,..........

The base platform's High # Rock Islander,.....that I picked up at a Pawn shop in Wilcox ( I think, ....if not, it was from a gunshow, or shop in Tucson).....When I got it, it was in "Sporter" form,.....VERY bad form, too I might add. The drilling and tapping of the receiver for the ubiquitous Weaver Mounts had been acccomplished by drunken fools, with a burnt out Craftsman drill motor,.....at 3:00AM , behind God only knows how much bad booze. (Gee, I hope I don't upset any twits by mentioning God,.....i9n anything but a groveling tone)

..........One thing I can give the drilling crew credit for,.......outside of destroying "The Originality" of the beast,........they were too stoned, or ignorant to fool with "Spot Annealing",........in consequence,....the receiver looked likely.

Can't say that the wood was remarkable,....cuz' I don't remember it,....and where it went.

The Stock is a 52C,.....but not 1 of the 10 that I subsequently bought from SARCO,.....for $15.00 each.( These were residue from alla' the armory rack rifles,....Win 52 B & C that the Klintoons cut up, to protect us from,.....hey fuc# it,.....I don't wanna' TALK ABOUT THAT SHI$ !

.....the stock on Green was purchased from a VERY drunk old coot at a Pima County Fairgrounds show,....for the princely sum of $4.00, and a big foaming styro cup of Draught Beer ( yes, They useta' flog it out in front of the show.

It was severely cracked,....clean through on one side of the Mag slot,.....Don't really matter,....it's all " Ribbed" with T 60 aluminum imbeds,.......and buried in Krylon Camo OD.

The action is pinned and potted into a true "Flat Bottom" with Peened taper pins, and Devcon Titanium mud. A Brownell's 8MM Mauser Single shot adaptor was tossed into the pour,.......nice rifle to run,.....toss one in the "Tray" and slam the bolt shut,....The remainder of the 1 Lb. Titanium Putty kit went into the stock,....which is by itself. heavier than a lot of heavier caliber rifles. It's not an EXTREMELY heavy rifle,....at 14 Lb. But as the pics will verify,....it's a tad "Muzzle Heavy"

Part 2

The barrel that makes Green a bit Muzzle Heavy was garnered by hard work,....millwrighting, welding, and rigging gear into the legacy shop that inherited all of Old Paul Marquart's tooling.

One of the memorable and worthwhile side benefits of horse trading my way into a coupla' great barrels was getting to run up to Prescott and meet Paul, not long before he left us. I'll not soon forget the look on his face as I jockeyed a large rental forklift around in his back driveway,......loading out his Bridgeport Mill. The "Coffee and Sticky Buns" break down at the local cafe,....with Fred Wells and crew was a once in a lifetime experience, too. Talk about getting to hang with the legends!

Once all the gear was spotted, and the new outfit fired up, I watched them deep hole drill, ream a 416R stainless blank 32" X 1 1/4 +", in the Browne and Sharpe double header Deep hole rig
( Springfield Armory , circa WW1 ) .
The bored and reamed blank was than turned on centers,.......and than rifled in the old Pratt and Whitney sine bar cut rifler. ( also Circa WW1 Springfield Armory) .......10 twist,6 grooves, very tight bore,....each groove cut .00010" per pass,....before indexed advance. Should mention that the Box and cutter were generated on an old Sioux or Sunnen Valve grinding machine ( from flathead Ford era)....that Marquart had converted and dialed in for that tasking.

Rifled, the barrel was that centered up on the HUGE Brown and Sharpe Grinder,....and spun into a super concentric finished mode.

Hand lead lapping completed the barrel's birth cycle.

Fitting and chambering were detail conscious, and the chamber was cut with a moderate "Tight neck" ,.....nothing too extreme, in that regard.

Spooled up to the pinned and potted action,...bedded into the massively reinforced >$4.00 and a beer stock,.....I gave sincere thanks for the Burris "Posi-Line" scope ring system,......and wound up using the Largest offsets they make, to get the scope optically centered. The original 4.5 X 14 Leupold Vari X III that it once wore has been replaced with a more Spartan, and rather ancient fixed 10X Redfield Target scope.

there it is,......and I've enjoyed shooting it as much as I did Building it. LOVES the 190 SMK , but doesn't turn up it's nose at good 168s either.

again, there it is,.......not that I'd know much about the "Inherantly Accurate" .30-06 cartridge,....or the "Venerable"
Springfield 1903 Rifle.

...........I've fired flintlocks with a faster lock time.

Could care less about ID'ing some Old'm pawnshop owner's crap he picks up from crack heads.

Thanks GTC

I've fired cap locks slower than that, buck up fella! laugh

Old Renegade, after about 5, maybe 6 shots, you could almost feel the "fuze" burning...sittin' there tryin' to stay on target, waiting for that jab in the shoulder, flies buzzing 'round abouts. Interesting way to spend the afternoon.

I'm confused about BMT's Web-Fu as well. shocked

It's sad to watch. Look at what happened to Lee.

Actually, upon reflection, I realize that is an unkind and unwarranted cut on the average man. Take it to mean that Lee illustrates better use as a catalyst than "average", and in fact the average man is highly elevated when compared to that litmus. Still, for the average guy, it might serve well to have professional help standing by. Just sayin'.

Bein' as how all the rest of y'all are above average there will only be a little collateral damage. Within acceptable statistical norms I'd say.
