Just applied for a Wyoming unit 32 (bull tag 1st choice, Cow 2nd). Has anyone hunted there? Any info? Have 4 points but I know will still need a lot of luck to draw. John

If 32 was that good I wouldn't see so many Rock Springs licenses in 67 and 68.

32 has a ton of elk. A 300" bull is very doable, with a few bigger. Access is so easy they just dont live long enough to get real big..if you draw, you will have the chance to look over many bulls.

Easy access, lots of open country with some small patches of timber. It has high success, so everyone wants to hunt an "easy" elk. If all of the people who put in for the bull licenses last year apply again and nobody else with 4 points does, your odds of drawing the license to hunt a bull increased to 22%. Since there were no cow licenses there last year, whether you draw that license depends on how many people notice the new licenses and apply for the cow license as their first choice. You will not get a license as a second choice that someone else can't get as a first choice. But, if you draw the cow license, you retain your preference points and get to hunt the area. That should help when/if you draw the license to hunt a bull.

DrHJH, Thanks for the info. Shot a few "easy" cow elk, but never an easy bull. My last bull was on an archery hunt in the Gila. Shot a nice 6x6 on the 8th day of a 9 day DIY hunt. Then had a 9 mile pack out. Thank god for horses. Actually, I'm hoping to draw the cow tag so that I'll have a season to learn it before someday "I hope" drawing a bull tag. John

My buddy drew 31 last year. The above descriptions apply to 31 as well. Opening day was a madhouse with quads & pickups racing at breakneck speeds in hopes of locating & shooting "the big one" before the other guy did. open country, roads everywhere, lots of competition. Not a relaxing hunt.
