I have gradually sold off all my commie rifles. All the SKS carbines are gone, and all the AKs with the exception of this old SA-93. These were the first Bulgarians to be imported, and some say the best AKs of all time. Milled receiver, and built like a damn tank. After sitting for years in the back of the safe, I dragged it out, and have been playing with it again. This is an extremely accurate little rifle, and so far, totally reliable. The furniture sucks though. The old blond thumbhole stock is an ugly thing indeed. The nice folks at K-VAR walked me through the parts list needed to convert it to a more modern look. Parts are now on the way, including a new Arsenal two stage trigger. I should have it put back together in a week. Here is what it looks like now. The 'before' pic. The 'after' pic to be posted later.

I have a milled poly tech. Still a POS rifle, I should have bought some SKS instead, I trust them a lot more than an AK.
Be nice to see how it turns out. Given a good peep on the rear things could get better...
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

it shoots Minute of beer can already at 150 yards. I have never found an SKS that was more reliable than an AK, and never found an SKS that was as accurate as this Bulgarian is.

Stock set showed up today. It went on without too much trouble. I don't think I will trust myself to install the new trigger parts though. Gotta find someone that knows what they are doing.

Its been more than two decades since Ive disassembled a milled AK, so I dont remember if it has the bent paper-clip pin retainer that the stamped rifles do. If it does, getting it back in is a straight up pain in the arse. Other than that, the replacement of FCG parts in an AK are as simple as all get out. Theres a gadget that replaces the paper-clip spring called a Shepherd's Crook, available here: http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15&products_id=166 If you work up a little Google-Fu, Im sure you can find both photo and video instructions on how to do the whole thing yourself. Good luck my friend.

Keven, even the instructions scared me. I believe I'll buy that part, and then pay someone to install it. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice upgrade! That before pic looks like something my kid brother would drag home.

bet he wishes he could find a SA-93 today to drag home. I picked that one up back around 1990. Traded a Baikel double stack mag Makarov pistol for it. The pistol cost me $70.
