340SC vs. 340PD??
I have an opportunity at a really great deal on a S&W 340SC and was wondering if there is any pros/cons to this as compared to the 340PD??
THANK YOU!!!

I can't compare them, but I do have a 360-1 which is 3" barreled scandium J frame with the same grips as the 340sc. 38 +p is fairly serious stuff and shooting full power 357 mag is VERY unpleasant.
I suspect that the grips in the 340pd might do a better job of reducing recoil.

The only difference is finish and sights. The silver finished model (SC) has black sights, the black finished model (PD) has a red insert front sight.
It's just a matter of which one of those options trips your trigger, otherwise they're the same gun.

My S&W 340PD is a wonderful conceal carry gun. It weighs about one pound. And in a pocket holster with five rounds of 38 Special ammo is undercover. light, and easy to access.

Mark: Buy it!!! I've been carrying a 342PD for years; 10.7 ounces unloaded. Excellent carry gun; not like your shooting lots of rounds daily. I think its very manageable with +P loads.
Talk is cheap - except when Congress does it.
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'

I had a scandium j frame in 357 mag, 1-7/8" barrel, I think it was a 360 model, it carried awesome, but I could not hit the broadside of a barn with it, even with its awesome 3# SA trigger. if you want a carry gun get an LCP, with buffalo bore 380 loads, you have just as potent of a load as any of the 357 mag stuff that I could shoot out of my j frame.
