Hi I have two questions.
1) I was looking through the fall catalogue for a local outfitters ( Le Baron ) and I noticed that Federal offers a factory load Nosler Partition in .30-30 Win....anybody try them. How did they perform on deer?
2) I am also interested in replacing my factory sights on my Win M94 with fiber optic sights. Has anybody done this. How did you like it?
Thanks,

RRC.
In my opinion, a nosler partition in a 30-30 is a little wasted. This caliber is a 100 yarder, maybe 150. and your'e not pushing the bullet fast enough that any regular 150 -180 gr FL pt is going to come apart. Those old time silver tips worked about the same as a partition would do. Haven't used them, but then I'\m not a proponent of using premium bullets.
As for the fiber optic sights, they tend to gather to much light in low light situations and obliterate the target. I took mine off my muzzle loader and went back to a peep sight. Be sure to check one out in low light , before you ever go hunting
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles

Up to now I have used Winchester SilverTips with excellent results. Thanks for the tip on the fiber optic sights

I tend to agree with saddlesore on the partitions. At .30-30 velocities you probably don't need such a spendy bullet. I shot through a mulie buck lengthwise once with a 150gr Hornady. You don't need to do any better than that! -al
