I live In Franklin. I lived in Ypsilanti Michigan for the first 9 years of my existance, Then moved to Spring Hill TN after the GM plant in Texas forced the shutdown of the Willow Run GM plant up there. My dad is one of those Saturn transfers offered the job in 88, but we waited till 93 to move.

I actuall have quite a few guns, but I dunno if anyone of them is worth anything

Savage 19 NRA - 1930 ish

Remington 550-1 .22 Semiauto - 1970 ish

Marlin .22 Semiauto. fairly new, early 90's

Various pellet rifles/pistols

My pride and joy baby Model 12 Winchester 16 Gauge. Older than time itself to me. It was my great Grandfathers that he hunted with in his early - late teens. In as close to perfect condition as can be ecpected. I dunno if it's factory, but the choke threads onto the outside of the barrel and looks like a fancy muzzle brake, but stamped into the bottom around the edge there are the various settings full/modified/imp. cylinder and such. It groups really tight with 2 3/4" shells. I usually blow the middle of the target out at the turkey shoot my scout troop sponsors every year.

I am also trying to get an Krag, 2 o3's, and a 1917 Enfield of my grandfathers. He was a huge collector before he passed. There's also a Minty Springfield 45-70 trapdoor up there, but another grandchild already has their name on it.

I also like to participate in the civil war re-enactions. Dressing up and using those old flintlocks and percussion caps are fun. gets alittle hot near your face but oh well.

As you can also tell I like to ramble

Thanks all

Andrew

Andrew:

We're only about 20 miles apart. I live outside Columbia. Were you involved in the re-enactment we had here about a month ago.....up at Spring Hill? Heck of a show. I love those cannons....wish I had one. Be a nice way to wake up the neighbors. I bet if you were in the re-enactment, you dressed in one of those "blue" outfits, being from Michigan and all.

Nah I dress In the gray most of the time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. My uncle in Michigan has a few of those Cannon. I also have a friend up in Dundee who owns a museum. He has a few also, as well as a gattling cannon you turn by hand from that era.

Where in Columbia did you live. I lived in Spring Hill, about 3 Miles from Spring Hill High School. I'm down near Galaxy Lanes and that all the time.

I would guess your rifle will be worth around $300 after you put the $100 worth of parts on it.

I'll take that with a grain of salt. Free gun + Rear Sight/Original mag and handmade leather sling. Looks like this gun was a good choice to fix up. Who know maybe I'll get lucky and have someone to pass it on to down the line.

I don't know much, but did the rifles only come with one magazine with the knurled knob on the bottom. No one seems to have the original. they all have the remanufactured's like I have. If anyone has an extra original that would be great. I have a halfway decent paycheck coming this weekend and I could probably maybe afford it.

Thanks
Andrew

That looks simililar. but the rear hole isn't bigger. What do you guys think. Is it worth buying it and having it cleaned up and re-blued or should I wait for the one in the pictures above with the curved base. I'm looking at getting as close to original as I can.

I also got this reply from the GunBroker.com forums
IF YOU LOOK CLOSE THERE SHOULD BE TWO SCREWS IN THE BARREL IN FRONT OF THE BOLT. THESE WHERE FOR SCOPE BLOCKS (UNERTL TYPE).

I don't believe the sight that Mad Dog found is correct for your rifle. Go back and look that the picture I posted earlier. At least, it's not like the one on my Model 19.

About the mag....it's not suppose to extend below the stock. The one you have is longer than an original. With an original, only the "knob" will extend below the stock. Give me a minute and I'll post a picture of the correct mag.

I live about 4 miles from the bowling alley...out toward Culleoka.

That's really cool. If anyone has any leads on an original mag let me know. It makes the gun look so much cleaner.

Thank's Andrew

Here are several and they may have various writings on them. Can't have too many! I'm still short a few for guns.

The ones marked "23A... and/or NRA..." would be correct for his rifle. The top second from the right is the early pre 1923 mag (wrong knob).

I'd pass on that sight. It looks like a #15 which requires a third hole in the receiver to the rear. It was made for the later rifles (after about 1936).

Is there any way I could get you to sell me 1 or 2 of those mags. I've got my checkbook right here. Thanks alot if you can. I really like the top 2nd from left, and the top far right. I've modified the pic a tad to show you which in case I didn't type it right.

P.S. Thanks for all of your help guys. This thing was proving to be a real bitch before I found this board. Yes I also thought the sight looked a bit off, the holes are the wrong size, and the base looked wrong. Thanks for saving me a lot of money,

Also I plan on buying some leather and making my own sling for the rifle. If anyone here's 19NRA has the original sling or a replacement could you post some pictures so I can get an Idea of what I need.

Thanks Andrew

Probably not, only because I have guns for all of them and I am short a few mags myself to have one for each.

Ladies and Gentlemen a miracle has just occured.

I signed up the day after I signed up here at the GunBroker.com forums and posted a want ad. 3 days and only a few views and no replies and today I get this

"I have a peep sight for this firearm, kind of surprised myself on this one. Its in equal shape to your pictures. I am not sure what to charge I have no information to go by.

I saw somewhere in this post the price of $60-$70 was mentioned so I wrote him back and requested some pictures and a reply. I'll keep you guys posted

Then end of my quest may be near

Andrew

P.S. Rick I pmed you back. Thank you everyone for being so helpful
