Hey guys I'll post this in the AR forum too, but I seldom go there, don't know how many of the rest of you do.
My pard that helps me out with puters needs to replace a barrel on his Bushmaster.
He wants a 16" decent barrel, he's prepared to spend 2-300 bucks
Is that reasonable?
who makes good ones?
don't think he cares whether it's chrome moly or not, will defer to the campfire wisdom.
appreciate any replies or help you can give.
tks Randy

Doesn't seem right that a rifle barrel costs less than a highlighting and extensions.

I built an AR from a J&T kit that used an E.R. Shaw barrel.
It was a good shooter and last time I checked, they were priced right.

Mike just checked in to see what responses I got Mike, this Mike handled my lightwork just fine. tis appreciated I'd love to turn some of my girls loose on Bob, they could put in extensions and he could rock the mullet once more! Course Bob would probably enjoy me turning some of those girls loose on him. he's a rockstar lawyer anyhoo, only seems appropriate and don't be bemoaning the fact of what professional services cost Bob! A man's gotta eat, filet mignon, lobster, you know.....grin

highlights and extensions have to cost that much so I can afford to subscribe to LPE!

Did you sense my jealousy at your making great bank dealing with a bevy of beauties all day while I trudge along with the criminals and the divorcing?

A 16" AR is a fighting rifle. You want the most durable, versatile barrel available with the ability to shoot everything from M193 55gr and even Mk262 77gr ammo. Chrome lining adds durability, but hammer forging increases durability to an even greater degree. Pair those two attributes together and you have the best available. I think these Daniel Defense barrels are the best barrels available. Daniel Defense 16" Barrels

Nice link. No AR15 tubes offered though.
I did check them out, a shame they don't have more twists as I have no use for a 10 twist in a 223 or I'd have ordered one already.
Thanks, Jeff
