I was visiting yesterday with an old friend, and he showed me his new watch. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual. The dang thing weighs a ton, solid Platinum! This what it looks like. link to picture My old Casio keeps time as well though.

no kidding. I'm sure the guy is a great friend and hell of a guy, but that's just stupid. IMO of course.

no kidding. I'm sure the guy is a great friend and hell of a guy, but that's just stupid. IMO of course. Why would it be stupid? If the guy can afford it without strain, why not? If he cannot really afford it, but watches are his passionate hobby, why not? His freedom to spend a lot on watches does not impede our freedom to spend on other things or to save. Live and let live is the idea, isn't it? 
Is it too ambitious or too naive to look for an honest politician? Or simply a useful one?

He can afford it deersmeller. His ride is a Bently Continental GT, he lives in a 9000 SQ FT Condo on Miami Beach (and owns a castle in Hungary, where we was born). His home in town here, what he calls 'the cottage' is a pretty nice place, and he has a 13 ct Diamond ring.

Obviously, this has nothing to do with Mannlicher's friend and I am not suggesting it does, but not all wealth is harmless.

I just could never justify that even if I could afford it. guess I'm just wired different. Good for him though.

The products he has brought to market have benefited millions of people, and made their lives better, and indeed, have saved their lives. His work ethic is astounding, his mind is one in a million. He came from nothing, escaping from Communist Hungary as a young man, coming to America with zero, and working his azz off for many years.
