:)Got around to getting a liner into my 1903. Took it out and one of two aftermarket mags works right slick in it. Fixed up the peep sight and may have a winner. Gotta wait for better weather to really give it a work out.

Sounds like fun, whats a liner run for a .22? What kind of accuracy do you expect from a lined gun, Like new? I dont know much about the whole liner deal. Its would be very cool to have a old 22 shooting like a new one.

I just had an old 1903 given to me for x-mas, any ideas on how to fix up (or replace) a really loose butt stock on one of these?

A liner should run with new. Just gotta remember that it won't shoot better than the rest of gun can. A liner job is running one hundred.
For the stock, I think it would need to be glass bedded, or "fitted" if you will. No reason a pillar couldn't be fitted into the stock where the screw goes through.

Wow, that turned out really great! I'm surprised how well the parkerizing turned out. I also see you swapped out the front sight. How did you manage to fix the Marbles tang sight? I thought that thing was done for. If anyone is curious about the "before" pictures (he got it from me). https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._second_Model_1903_with_some#Post2208087Per the factory letter "Serial number 1381xx, was manufactured on Tuesday, May 27th, 1913 and shipped Wednesday, May 28th, 1913. The original consignee was listed as "Standart Bros. Ltd" with no other information." [Turns out it was a hardware store in downtown Detroit] Glad you were able to have a lot of fun with this one.

Glad you like it. I silver soldered the rear sight in the upright to keep it in the right place. Kinda hinky, but it works. I've really enjoyed working on it, and did some shooting with it the other day. Way cool. I just traded it to a good home for a set of bluing tanks and burners that I need. Some of my tanks are rusted, and I could use more burners for sure. He is very pleased to get a nice Savage pump as well. Really worked out well. I got to "save" a Savage classic and now have some tools I needed. Thanks Fushigi_Ojisan, very much for your help with this!

Did you give them the factory letter as well? Given its 97 years old now, the owners might want to hang onto it. No need to make Mr. Callahan duplicate his efforts

Good reminder, will look it up. If you haven't turned it over yet, please cut my name and address out of the letter. BTW, do you happen to keep the rear barrel-mounted sight? Someone on Gunboards is looking for it.

I'll have to check. It'll be tomorrow at the soonest before I get out to the shop. Been working on the old Army Blaser, corroded terminals, loose door mirrors, faulty gauge connections. All fixed now and off to Potsdam to pick the daughter (youngest) who is visiting the older daughter at college.
