New Mexico Mule deer at 200 yards penetrated 18" of gut to disintegrate the heart on hard quartering away shot.
White tail doe exploding skull cap.
Numerous hogs from 40 yards to 125 yards one shot kills. Still waiting to get a longer range shot but all my animals keep walking out so close.

everyone in my family shoots Bergers from the 6mm 105s to the 30 cal 168 and everything in between... seen 9 deer killed and a mulie that was shot at 605 yards with a 6.5 wby (140 VLD) none took more than a few steps. Amazing hunting bullets

14 hogs with the 30 cal 168 hunting VLD,,1 big bull elk with the 190 VLD @ 328 yards. All one shot kills!!
All with the exception of 3 hogs were "DRT." The 3 hogs not DRT, ran no more than 10 yards!!!
The VLDs are an excellent,,,"no tracking",,,required bullet!

A buddy popped a hog (about 200 pounds) nearly head on at a bit over 100 yards with a 168 out of a 308 powered by a modest charge of H4895.
I didn't see the body (and my memory of the conversational details fails me right now) so I can't give a detailed description of the damage, but my friend was very impressed by how it dropped the hog fast.
He's enthusiastic about using them more next deer season.

115's in a 257 Roberts accounted for two bang-flops. If nothing else, the accuracy of the bullet is something to get excited about.

2009 Washington mule deer buck, 175 yards, 115 gr VLD through the shoulder. Instant drop/death. Bullet found just under the hide on the opposite side shoulder.
2009 Wyoming mule deer doe, 400 yards, 115 gr VLD just behind the fore-leg, low in the chest. Took out the heart & lungs. She collapsed immediately.
2008 Washington approx 250 pound mule deer buck , 115 gr VLD @ 230 - 240 yards, spined him (was shooting from above) then used a finishing shot to his chest from about 100 yards. Destruction in the chest cavity was impressive. I found the funnel-shaped entry wound - very narrow, caliber sized hole which then broadened out as it reached the chest cavity. Recovered bullet only weighed 33 grains, was just under the off-side hide.
From my rifle they've been accurate, and work exactly as described by gunwriter John Barsness. Small entry wound, tremendous destruction in the chest cavity and very quick kills. Not half bad on coyotes either... All were from my .25-06 at about 3180 fps.
Regards, Guy

7MM Dakota, 168, 3200fps. 185lb 8pt, 60 yd shot, high and tight behind the shoulder. At the shot, deer falls, gets up, falls and dies. Pass through with exit about the size of a quarter. I will definately use them again. Although a sample of 1, it did good in my opinon.

Worked up to 60.5 gr Retumbo (Hodgdon max for the 117 gr bullet). Used Federal 210 match primer and neck-sized Winchester cases.
First lot of Retumbo I used averaged 3215 fps with the same load, second lot manages 3180 fps average. No pressure issues at all in my factory built Rem CDL. I think quite highly of that 115 gr Berger - it does a fine job on coyotes too - as long as keeping the hide intact isn't terribly important...

Yeah, the rifle is just a factory built Rem 700 with a 6x scope, but it regularly keeps three shots at about 3" out at 300 yards. Not a match rifle, but the mule deer & coyotes seem to think it's accurate enough!

Just getting into the Bergers...
My friend who hunts on my land started hunting with them this year.
210 Berger VLD's- 300 RUM 3150 MV...
one doe at 90 yards- exploded at the base of the neck, nearly separating it from the body. Pretty graphic according to him.
another doe at 1007 yards- typical 1/2" exit hole after passing through the heart- she ran 50 yards and piled up.
seems to me they'll work through a wide range of impact velocities, which is tantamount to me.

I wonder how the 210's in a 300 win mag would work at 25 yards on elk? Lst 2 years that was the distance. Three years ago 520 yards
I was ANTI-OBAMA before it was CooL
