Local radio says it is believed Gordon died. If so this is one fan who will miss him. Canadian Railroad Trilogy should be our anthem in MHO.

He has one line in the Canadian Railroad Trilogy wherin he says "and the green dark forest was too silent to be real" which is so accurate.

I'd heard that he was out after Sundown, driving on the Carefree Highway in the Early Moring Rain.....
Now with even more aplomb

For 20+ years I have played The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald on my sailboats sound system at the beginning of all major trips / cruises.
Some crew members are amused - some not so much.
A truly great singer.

My love of his music goes back into the mists of the 1960's. He was the first concert I attended/ Randy

I like stompin Tom better as a Canadian singer. Never was to crazy about Gordon, kinda reminded me of Ann Murray, churning out song after song that pretty well all sound the same.
It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

He's on tour again.
Don't know why anyone would say that he's dead, unless they were having fun with ticket holders, or some 'quality' PR...
If we could read their mind....

The oldies are never dead, regardless of the artist's state-of-being or lack thereof.

For years, a guitarist named Red Shea accompanied him. Shea also played in a rock band in Toronto for a teen music TV show called "Let's Go" in the 60's. Later, Shea played for Tommy Hunter and carried Tommy's guitar out on stage. Hunter was a 5 chord man, and couldn't come close to Shea in ability on a guitar.
Lightfoot was big with the hippies in the late 60's and 70's -- I saw him in concert at McMaster University in either 69 or 70. A great show. He's been rode hard and put away wet too many times -- lots of hard miles on him, for sure.
The whole dead Lightfoot thing was started on twitter according to CBC radio.

Gord never used to return my calls.
I'd phone him up and say, "Do you ever hear little voices in your head, Gord? Theyre telling you to practice!"
He thought that I meant the guitar.
Shooting Badly
His pulsing brow was badly pissing, His shots all day were always missing. Not fair in time, to miss the mark, The target laughed - its bull still dark.
The frame guffawed. The backing booed. He thought them all extremely rude. The berm called out, "Hey, over here! Your shooting stinks! It has all year."
And to the noise that fed his rage. Some kids cried out, "It's all your age! Your eyesight's poor. Your hold is bad. Time to give it up now, dad!
Just one more time, the shooter thought, To try and punch one small, white dot. His concentration and grip still held, This was his chance to quell the crowd.
With superhuman effort showing, He took aim, the tension growing. A little squeeze, a little luck, A lot of shame, he shot a duck!
