Those comments also apply to the .257 Roberts and .35 Whelen -- absolutely two of the finest cartridges ever developed. When you have those two in Hawkeyes, it just can't get better... smile.

Can't find any pics of my .375 Ruger Hawkeye in this laptop, but I'll find some and put them up when I get home.

Hawkeyes are about the nicest Ruger 77's going, though some of the older tang-safety's are really nice too...

Nice pictures, muledeer!

Is this the accuracy out of the box or does the gun need some tuning?

Thanks...!

I never shoot a new wood-stocked rifle without bedding it, after I split one a few years ago. Other than than, nothing else done except set the trigger as light as can be done on the factory setup.

Pretty good little rifles, these Hawkeyes... smile.

I've got an All-Weather in .308 that is showing a steady trend in tightening the groups, with it now averaging under MOA. That is with 50+ groups to average. And that is a load that was just thrown together and no development done. I'm sure there is more accuracy in there if I go looking.......If it would ever quit snowing....

What did you throw together? Was it one of the "if your rifle doesn't shoot this pretty well it's sick" classics?

Yep. 46.5 varget, 150 grain Hornady, .040 off the lands, in a winchester case. I still think that, for that individual rifle, some playing with seating depth and charges could improve groups.

But that is a good baseline.

I was going to ask the same thing about Steelheads rifle. Did it come like that or did you do something to perk it up a bit. Most of the stocks I have seen have been nice, but rather plain.

From the factory, all I do is bed them.
