I see alot of complaints on here and they are all vague.....However I also notice that they are talking about 2 different companies. Granted they are owned by father and son. But the Montana Rifleman is owned by the father (Brian) and is strickly a barrel manufacter. And the Montana Rifle Company is owned by the son (Jeff) and they are the ones who do the actions, barreled actions and complete rifles. Now some may have had problems with one company and some may have had problems with the company. As well as some having problems with every other company out there. But to confuse the two companies is not just for anyone.

Now on to the next annoying thing. That would be the Shane Email. Granted I have never seen a $600.00 Lilja barrel. But even still at $70.00 how could you even think to imagine that you were going to get a bench rest quality Barrel? I myself would not even be considering it for that. A hunting rifle or protection rifle yeah I can see that but not a bench rest rifle.I have seen people post many things about 1/2" MOA from their rifles and I have seen posts that are out to 1" MOA as well....Both would be minute of Meat out hunting. I have a 35 Whelan from them and I know that I have not had any game walk away from my shots. SO it is good enough for me. I guess what I am saying is overall there will be people who are mad at any company they deal with but to hold one company and there actions responsible for another company is not right at all

Well, I bought one of their fire sale barrels in .277 #3 CM. I sent it off with a pre 64 win for Redneck to turn into a 270 wby. I have the rifle back and have had it out doing load development twice now. It seems to be a shooter. It has shot many loads less than 1 inch for 3 shots at 100 yds and some down around 1/2 to 3/4". The bbl is 26". I'm getting excellent velocity and it seems to be very consistent. 7828 seems to be its favorite powder but shot 22 and 25 quite well also. 7828 and 22 are the velocity kings with the 130's however. Best of all it cleans up easy and almost no copper fouling at all. So I got lucky with the barrel. Im very happy with the rifle. Redneck did a real good job putting it together for me which is probably the main reason it shoots so well.

My MR barrel is from years ago, long before there was a MR action. At that time I believe Cooper was using some of their barrels. Mine cost more than $70 and the guy was very good to deal with. This one had a little pit about 3" back from the muzzle. It was cut to 20" and that wasn't a factor, but still it shouldn't have been there. Wessinger Custom made it into a Ruger/17AH and the thing shoots beautifully. It's a good barrel.
