Well maybe not to dealers, yet....but it's on the Zeiss website....check it out.

I see mostly just a face lift of the current version. They added rubber armoring this time, plus re-designed the focus mechanism which still has a fine focus feature. Also has the LotuTec lens coating.

I have a 5-year old Zeiss 85 T FL straight that is terrific. I don't see much advantage to upgrading to this new one. The optics don't seem to have changed. Dunno what the price will be......but if Zeiss prices this one like Leica just did......HOLY COW!....they won't sell many.

Anybody thinking of pulling the trigger on this new one?

I am thinking of getting the older 85 t fl body. Not sure if I should get the 20-75 eyepiece or the 20-60. I am using it on the eastern plains of Colorado to judge mule deer. Do you think the extra power would be worth it when the atmosphere conditions are right to turn it up?

dman,
I have the zeiss 65mm scope. I can use 45x power alot more than I ever thought I would. I did not know that zeiss made a 75x eye piece but if you can afford it thats the one that I would buy. You probally won't get to use it much at that magnafication but when you could it would be very nice.

If I were spending $3k on a spotter it would most definitely be the Kowa Prominar 884. In my head to head comparisons, my Nikon 82ED is already just as good as my neighbor's Zeiss 85T FL. Neither one of us could tell any difference in the view, except for FOV advantage to the Zeiss zoom.

I found a new 85mm zeiss with with the 20-60 eyepiece. I am getting it all for $1600. It was a package deal so I had to go with that zoom to get that great price. I would still like to see the 20-75, but for this price I could not pass it up. I was looking at the nikon and bear basin told me to be careful when attaching the eyepiece. They see them come back with them cross threaded. I do like nikon scope optics. Does your nikon perform better at 75 power vs the 60 on your friends zeiss when conditions are perfect? -or can you see tell much difference in detail. Thanks for the replies.

There are some occasions when the 75x is usable for sure, but not real often. When the atmosphere allows, you can see more detail for sure. I wouldn't worry though, that Zeiss is super good, and for $1600 you stole it.
