I did a deal with a guy on another forum. Now, I'm a member on about a dozen different forums. I've done hundreds of deals over the years with nothing but 100% positive feedback on every forum and, including ebay. Anyway the guy pms me on the 19th that payment has been sent. Cool. I wait. No problem. Payment shows up today, the 24th. So far, no problems. I go to the forum to pm him that I got payment tonight after work and will ship tomorrow. No problem so far. I have two messages a day from this guy asking what's going on. In addition, I have a pm from a moderator from yesterday asking me what gives. WTF!?!? He mailed payment on the 19th and I got it on the 24th and somehow this guy is concerned enough to contact a moderator about my lacking in some way. Holy crap! Thanks. I just needed to vent.

I agree with the recommendation to send his money back to him - more trouble probably on the way once he receives the goods from you.

Agree with the rest here TheBigSky...return his payment. I had a guy do that to me on GB...emailed me the day after he sent a check and a couple of more times before I got it. I dn't know if people have no clue about the mail system or some are just plain stupid. And my transaction was a minor one.

If you do send the item take detailed pictures of the item and save them for future reference. I got the feeling you will need them. kwg

Did the check clear the bank it was drawn on? If not don't ship until it does. With this type of behavior it will most likely bounce.
I've had similar experience on Craig's list. The scam is to send a cashier's check which will clear your bank assuming you have enough in the bank to cover it. Problem comes when it goes to the bank the check was drawn on and it comes back marked "counterfeit". Meanwhile the guy has been emailing and calling me to ship the item. I tell him, "Nothing moves until the check clears BOTH banks.
