I will be using it to hunt deer with and need to know the best mount for this gun. thanks

Swampfox,<P>Have you considered open sights? I have no idea how your eyesight is, but I have found that on a gun such as the SBH, a 100 - 125 yard gun at most, a scope is often just extra weight. I am not an anti-scope pistol guy. Pistol scopes definately have their place on longer range guns, but on short range guns (<125 yards, IMHO) opens sights are the way to go. If you have vision problems that preclude the use of open sights, I would look at something like a Bushnell Holosight or Tasco Optima or any red dot type of sight (the Leupold Gilmore sight is probaly the best buy for the money in red dot sights these days). If you absolutely feel that you must have a scope, you cannot beat the Leupold 2x LER scope. You definately do not need more than 2X. As for mount, look at the B-Square and Weaver mounts. Its hard to go wrong with either one. <P>------------------<BR>Stush

I have a mount on my SBH from B-Square. It seems to be holding up ok. I've shot 1000 rounds and nothing has losend up yet.<BR> Fuzz

FUZZ-Is it the full length mount?Does it require a gunsmith to install?<P>STUSH-My eyesight is good but I personally feel more accurate with the scope,but the unscoped version is alot easier to carry.I am good out to 50-60 yards but it opens up after that.I think that I will keep it holstered for this season without the scope for close shots.<P>

Swampfox,<BR> Sorry for the slow reply. Yes it's a full length mount and no gunsmith needed. You remove the rear sight then place the mount on the SBH. One screw mounts it where the rear sight was and there is 6 set screws (3 on each side) that hold it on the sides of the front sights. The set screws will leave marks . Fuzz

Personally, I'd just have a smith install a base, drilled and tapped, with at least 4 screws.<P>Don't forget to have him include four little filler screws for when you want a beltgun, though.<P>The d&t mount will be more solid, and will not mar the gun's finish. Also, B-Square mounts are often too short for a Red Dot scope, if you ever decide to use one. Better to get a T'SOB type up front and be done with it!<BR> <BR>Good luck,<P>FastVFR
