The only one I know is made by AMT I think it is. Makes the big Automag line of pistols and this is the baby brother.
Tex

I had an AMT, nice looking gun that wouldn't work on any thing but Winchester ammo. I wouldn't bother with one.
Bullwnkl.

ya, the AMT blows. a friend of mine had one in .50 cal, and it jammed damn near every shot. what is wrong with a Ruger single-six?

I have an AMT Auto Mag II in .22 mag. It is ammo picky, but it is fun to shoot. Also works as a portable flamethrower. Fire that thing at night and your in for a show. Bought it back in 87 as a novelty. E4E and me put it through it's paces in CA when we were stationed out there. It is a very accurate pistol but it takes some work to shoot it well. I should get rid of it as I don't shoot it much any more, but I can't bring myself to sell any of my guns. It's like selling a kid, ya know? This is the only semi-auto .22 mag handgun that I am aware of.
Keeb

Mobile,
Keeb speaks da truth. It is the only semi-auto 22mag going right now.
It's too cool on a engineering standpoint.
It uses a "floating chamber" that taps gas from the barrel back to the chamber to delay blowback.Mondo weird!!!!
It's hell on Jackrabbits and the odd rattlesnake though!!!!
I can remember several times when a guy would ask"Hey what the heck are you shooting,a .44mag?" and you would have to explain the 5ft muzzleflash and "Whooom!" of unburnt powder, from a little 'ol .22mag.
Lotsa fun, little practicality....we all need one or two of the sort don't we?
Cheers!
My Tractor ain't sexy! My Rifle however, has issues with the matter. The wife Definately ain't cornfused! Good thing I have a Dog to come home to!!!!!!

i undrestand that the 22 mag is the most powerful cartridge per ounce of weight. anyone know if this is true?

I would think that the most powerful cartriages per weight would be the high pressure rifle cartriages. I really don't know.
I do know that the .22 Mag kills alot better than you'd think it would. Out of a handgun, it hammers jack rabbits, for instance. E

OH yeah when the AMT worked it was way cool. This thing just didn't work very well. If it was reliable I would still have it. One little fact about these guns that is not obvious at first is don't touch the barrel through the cut away slide after a magazine of rounds fired through the gun. Such activity tends to cause nasty burns on flesh.
Bullwnkl.
