How's the accuracy in the walnut/blued Hawkeye??
Looking at one for my son. I've heard the ss/syn Hawkeyes are pretty darn accurate..
Info on this rifle in this cartridge would be nice to hear..
Thanks

I have a .257 Roberts and it is scary accurate! Mine is blued and wood.

Just got my 338 Fed Hawkeye back from Ruger where it was getting a feed issue fixed. After putting in a lighter trigger spring and running some Tubbs Final Finish through it shot all my workup loads for 185 TTSXs under an inch (3-shot). It seems a bit picky about bullets, but is definitely a shooter given the right loads. My Savage 338-06 and 308 seem to shoot just about everything well, but with the right loads this Hawkeye will certainly do the job.

I have a wood blue Hawkeye in 30-06. Nice looking gun, has a nice feel to it. I put a Leupold 1.75-6 on it. So far this gun shoots 1 inch at 100 yards. I have never hunted with it. Only shot it at the range. Nice gun.

Don't have any new Rugers, just old ones, but am seriously thinking about getting a Hawkeye from all the good reports I hear. They sure handle and feel nice.

Have a LH in 30-06 and most everything shoots 1 inch or better. Accubonds, BTs, TSXs doing the best. PTs right at an inch, GMXs a little more.
Of the four Hawkeyes I have the 30-06 showed highest quality in all aspects. Still did some trigger work and floated the barrel (as i do on all of them).
Recommend them highly!
