This guy has been raiding my place for a month. I normally don't bother the semi-predators on my place, but he was getting just a bit bold. He tried to attack one cat and decided to, believe it or not, face my daughter down. I'm pretty proud of this shot. I had to sneak around the side of the house to the porch in the dark. I was able to see him by the porch light. I had to thread the needle between porch furniture. It was an off-hand head shot at 75 yds with CCI Maxi-mag HP's. Bang--then violently kick. He weighed 27lbs.

Kill them all, the turkey egg sucking basitds. They carry diseases, are a damned pest and nuisance around the farm, molest your pets, and cause a hell of a lot of damage to ground nesting birds. A coon looks at an object with three things in mind can I eat it, screw it, or crap on it? Since trapping has gone the way of the mountain man hardly anything preys on coons and helps keep their numbers in check.

Ok, well these last two posts conjures quite an image. One hell of a big head and a wiener bone! I guess I could make an "excited" coon wrap!

Ate dinner at my folk's last night. I tried to get Mom to par boil and bake the coon, but she wouldn't go for it. Her days of cooking her wilderness son's kills are over. She said she ruined the last piece of cookware she would ever ruin on a groundhog that was dern near as big as this coon.

Some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten was coon. Cut it up enough to get it in a crock pot and cover with water. Cook til meat is falling of the bones and skim all the grease off the top. Debone, shred, and add a bottle of KC Masterpiece. You'd be amazing how good a pulled coon sammich is.

Well, hell, I don't know of many white men that would measure up to that...

I still have the carcass, but I ain't sure its worth the trouble. I've heard of peter measuring contests among men, but, well, a coon measuring one, hmm, well, it just ain't that important to me. I would bow to the bigger coon.

Nice rifle. Nothing more fun than a lever action 22 rifle. Tom.

Have at it! laugh The only Winchester leverguns worth scoping is this and the .307 and .356 Big Bores. My next levergun purchase is a .375. It will be equipped with a Williams receiver sight.

I once had the idea of marketing dried coon weiners as swizzle sticks, people will buy the craziest chit, I was going to call them "pizzle swizzles".

That is a huge one, for sure. I'd like to have your rifle, too.

I went to work Thursday AM and saw one about that size freshly hit in the middle of the gravel road. On the return trip 9 hours later the coon was in the ditch surrounded by three bald eagles. Almost nothing left but the hide and skeleton.

Have a good day man. In honor of personal freedom and the open squirrel season, I think I'll go put a hole through dinner's head.

Nice coon, nice shot. Pretty rifle.

I was braggin' on you again this morning and the job you did on my rifle. I am getting rid of about a pest/week now around the house with complete confidence. Thanks again.

I look forward to seeing you around town with that coon skin cap.
