Our sportsmans Warehouse has a machine that I use that you can pan to the location you want and print a waterproof map for $7.

I've really like the maps you can build at Mytopo.com. I've also used MapSeal on USGS 7.5" maps to make them field worthy.

vander, Check out Selby's in Bozeman; kinda out by Albertson's. They have all the quadrangles (10:24000) for the state, and I believe they will print customized 10:24000 maps for any given area. I usually do the heavy "map" scouting with Google Earth and check out the quads for detail.

Another +1 for http://www.mytopo.com/. Great maps, lots of options, a little pricey but worth it. I have quite a few from them already. You can get satellite, topo and shaded relief. I usually order it folded and waterproof.

USAphotomaps at JDMcox.com. It's free (donate if you like it), pulls topo and photo data, and has UTM overlays. After using it happily for 6 months, I made a donation. I mostly print out on normal printer paper, but use the nat geo photo paper for maps I know I'll use a lot.

Me, too. Mytopo maps are worth whatever they want for them. Any scale and the latest information from aerial photos. E

I have used MyTopo as well and like them. I also have Maptech Terrain Navigator for PA. I spend a lot of my time outdoors in the Commonwealth so it work for me. I can print custom maps at home and transfer GPS info to the maps. Well I can't, but someone that has stronger electronic skills that I can. The downside is the for the most part they only come one state per disk set.

Otbpmaps.com is the be all end all of maps in my opinion. Just expensive.

Terrain Navigator Pro. I plot 22" x 34" sheets in 1/24000 scale for looking at the big picture. I print out two-sided 8-1/2" x 11" maps on water proof write-n-rain paper to take with me on my backpack DIY hunts. I use the software to add boundaries, add colors so the roads stand out and zoom in on potential water sources with the 1:12000 feature.
I'm a big fan and it works for me. Not the cheapest option.

I use Nat Geo Topo. Sounds a lot like what parko and bbright use.

I just use some map software that I got when I bought my GPS. I was orignally using TopoUSA 5.0 but I am now using TopoUSA 7.0 Some of the controls can be kind of weird at first but you get used to it. It's nice because you can select how detailed you want it. You can zoom out and get a larger map or print off a smaller map that's more detailed. You can also choose what grid system you're using and which map datum. Another big plus is that it prints the grid on the map too so you can get a better idea of where you are. They now have version 8.0 out but since I just got 7.0 last year I'm going to wait until another version comes out.
