I have a Rem. 742 that was left and I shoot right. Does anyone know how hard it is to change the safety? Do I need to but a right handed safety?

Never messed with one on a 742 but I think it is the same trigger group as an 870 and is real easy. If it is the same, you'll need to get a RH safety and then swap it out. I would think plenty of people would swap you a RH for a LH safety if you want to get rid of it.

Yes, I have heard that it is the same trigger group. I think that I would like to keep the left, just in case. But, thanks I have seen a few on e-bay. Do I need just the one part or do a couple of parts make up the assembly?

The LH ones are getting kind of scarce, IIRC.

Be careful when you drive the pin out that holds the spring down and detent ball, things can fly! It is real easy, just don't do it over a shag rug!
