Yes, the 1903 is very nice! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Anyone want to disagree on the tital "1899-B" or the "1899 Featherweight"?

Rick:
Looks like he has the same pictures for the "B" as he does for the "A". Anyway, the "B" seems to be an "A" and the other seems to be an "H".

I would have to agree that his "B" is an A model but I think the pictures are different because if you look close you can see the different serial numbers.

O.k., I'll bite on the 1899B. It is either an 1899A T/D or a 99B, but with the same characteristics and the fact that the serial number over laps both models how do you tell them apart?

MD gets the point on the "1899-B"! And I agree on the overlap of models. I don't think the 99-B or the 99-F started till 1922 even though Murray lists 1920.
The "Featherweight " is a 99-E (look at the serial range). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sharp eye on the E rick!
Murray even states a few "featherweight" words on the 99E though. At least this explains a bit on the price! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have a 99B / 1899A TD serial 223xxx. Also 1920. It does not have any model marking, no 99 or 1899 anywhere.
Although it does have the TD clip style with two screws behind the clip as opposed to the TD clip style with bolt going across the clip. Same as the one on the web page mentioned above.
Also have a 1920 99F (1899H?) in 22HP. Steel buttplate and the newer type forend clip as well. Again, no model markings....
Was the new forend clip style a feautre of the 99 over the older 1899 style?
Who knows. In any event, I have always assumed my 1920 TD's with newer forend clip style and without model markings to be 99's rather than 1899's....
Always a good topic for discussion,
Chris

Chris,
I think the forearm clp change was made on startup after WWI. The serial range of the change was around 204xxx.
I'll be interested to see what the letters say. I should probably wait till you get an answer but I think I'll post some info on the subject anyway...but I'm going to start it on a new posting.
