My good friend Jack out in Yelm, Washington is contemplating buying one of these Smith & Wesson Model 15-22 (AR-15 lookalike - fun Rifles?) and he is NOT computer literate. He wanted me to inquire online to see if anyone has any experiences with oen or if there are any good or bad reviews. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Google. All the reviews are good. A couple of the local guys have them and are very happy with their purchases.
Your friend can pimp it up with all the crap people hang on a real AR if he has a mind to do it.

MichiganScott: Thanks for the tip. I did what you suggested and most folks did like the Model 15-22. Thanks for the direction and I relayed the good reviews and a couple of bad ones to my friend. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I got one right after Christmas and really haven't had much trigger time with it mainly due to weather.I've put maybe 120 rounds thru it and can tell you they don't like Winchester or Remington Golden bullet ammo. CCi MiniMags and Stingers have been no problem. Whacked a skunk this past weekend for first blood with it. Like the other poster said, you have all the AR stuff to trick it out any way you want. Haven't had a chance to put it on paper as far as group size, but it shoots minute of skunk at 25 yards for sure! Rimfire Central has alot of posts and info on it.

A friend bought one to go with his duty AR and set it up identical, for training. He let me shoot it and it was a blast, no pun intended. I'm going to buy one for the same reason, to practice on the cheap. It will require HV ammo, though.

Botach was selling a version with a threaded muzzle. If you think you might want to screw a suppressor on it, that's the one to get.

In a side by side comparison with the Colt clone, learned that the S&W version is much easier to disassemble and supposedly also accepts many AR aftermarket goodies, including the trigger.
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.

Your buddy is going to luve this thing. Mine eats Federal bulk pack ammo real good. I have had zero FTF's with this ammo. I've got about 2000 rounds threw mine so mabe it's just the fact that it is broken in, but mine fungtions just fine with SV and sub-sonic ammo. I've never put mine on the bench, but I put 50 rounds in a 25 yard crow target rapid fire OH with no problem. Bill

Just a couple of minor issues with the S&W MP 15-22. One is a failure to feed, but that seems to be directly related to the care taken in loading the magazine. A little practice and you can load it correctly and won't have any problem.
The other issue is a failure to extract. That is an easy fix by bending the ejector hook slightly. There is a Youtube video on that problem that I found linked on S&W Forum.
Your buddy is going to love it if he is into Black Weapon type shooting.

I bought one the other day but haven't had the chance to shoot it yet.
I will say that they do accept regular AR triggers, grips with a minor mod, rails seem to be in spec and the receiver extension is mil spec sized so all the good stocks will fit.
They are on sale now probably because they have a new version coming out (May?) with a built in sling attachment point and Magpul MOE furniture. Of course it will be higher.
It is what it is but seems like it will make a nice trainer as all controls function the same as a real AR-15 unlike some of the other ones.
