between the 3x9-40 and the 3x9-50. i think it is a $10 difference however i might have to order new rings for the 50mm thus increasing the price. is this worth it? it will be going on a tikka t3 lite .270 wsm. ss

The 40 mm is easier to mount closer to your bore. If you put a stock pack on your rifle it brings your cheek right in line with the higher 50mm objective.

Go for the 50.

I've never owned a 50mm, but I have owned a 3.5X10X44 and three 3X9X40's. The 40mm will let you see till it's too dark to hunt legally. I honestly couldn't tell any difference in the two. The 40mm the 44mm both take medium rings to mount, not sure about the 50mm. If it's gonna be a 3X9, I'd opt for the 40mm myself. I just don't like the big OBJ's.
