Want something with less recoil that my nephew could use, so put up the EW WSM for sale (in the classifieds). Looking at a standard 270 in two rifles. Mostly for deer with occasional elk hunts.
So despite Browning haters, I've had good success with them and have rarely heard of an inaccurate one. Thing is, damn things are extremely ugly and was looking at them at $980! Despite its looks, it does feel pretty good.
Then, on the other hand, I could get a 700 SPS SS for just $550. For that, I could nearly put an McM Edge on it (going about $100 over). Thing is, from my own personal experience, there is a good chance the Browning is still more accurate. Have had a couple of 700s that were under MOA, but the Browning still beat 'em. Or could leave it stock and save over $400.
Don't reload (or would really look at a 7mm-08), like the idea of making a semi-custom, but really just want something that works out of the box and doesn't need to be messed with to get results.
Don't like the Tikka and the A7 is down on the list below these two, but is a slight possibility.
Will be topped with a VX3 3.5-10x40 CDS. Any thoughts?
