I'd think a call to Weatherby would be the best chance of getting an accurate answer to your question.

I would guess the attorneys would prevent that info from being given out.

And it's almost certainly a non-canister powder as well. (Meaning it can't be found on a store shelf.)

Thanks guys. Weatherby website has info on it and says it's Norma high grade premium powder. Nothing you can buy I am sure.

If you're wanting to handload for the 257 don't worry. Even though it's a high performance round it's very tractable.

rl22 is my favorite powder in the 257. My all time favorite load is 72gr rl22 and nosler bt 3 shot groups all day of .25 or less @100 yrds.

I'll second the 72gr RL22 load, though I use Barnes TTSX and get nearly 3700 out of my 26" Broughton. Consistantly under 1/2".

RE 22 and 100 TSX were made for my 257. Bad to (and through) the bone!

71.5-73g of R#22 with a Fed 215 and a 100g Pill is magic in the 257 WEatherby, velocity is 3600-3650 depending on the gun and barrel length.

RL22 and 100 TSX is all you need to know about reloading a .257 Weatherby IME. It works for a lot of people, personally I would not want to push a BT to 3600 fps and shoot deer with it, sounds like a lot of bloodshot meat to me.

Lately I've been playing with a Rem 700 CDL SF in .257 WBY, useing 115gr and 110 gr bullets. So far all the powders I've tried RL-22,IMR-7828, Ramshot Magnum, RL-25, and Retumbo have given good accuracey and velocity. At least this one rifle/cartridge seems pretty easy to load for.

Magnum was my choice. Many others like RL22 and IMR7828. Retumbo could work well also. Choices abound.
