Looked at an Anschutz 22 bolt gun today at the gun shop. It was a model 1451 (or 1415, I might have got the one and five mixed up [img]images/icons/frown.gif" border="0[/img] ). Anyone know anything about this model? Can't find it listed in any books I have. The price was $350 with a Simmons scope. Does this sound like a reasonable deal?

Larry,<P>I cannot comment on your prices, as these are different from our European ones.<BR>BUT 1451 and 1415 series are very different.<BR>1451 series are the cheapest made Anschutz rifles.<BR>The trigger is adjustable but not match grade, and mos important, there is only one screw between action/barrel and stock.<BR>This explained, I think, that I experienced shifting point of impact when the weather changed. <BR>By the way, Brno rifles have the same problem, and custom installing a second screw at the rear of the action dramatically improves the accuracy of these already excellent rifles.<P>1415 series are very good rifles, sporting the match 64 action, a cheap 54 action.<BR>You get a match grade trigger, two screws to attach the action to the stock which enables the barrel to be free floated...<BR> <BR>Good shooting<BR>olivier

Larry,<BR>I just saw a mint/new 1451 today for $319.00, although I have seen them as high as $499.00. As 350RM stated, they are the bottom of the line for Anschutz. The 1416 series is a much better rifle. <BR>Regards,<BR>JB

Thanks for the replies. I think I will pass on the gun mainly because of the single screw. I already have a 22 that uses a single screw and I think its junk--Marlin 782 22 mag. Can't free float the barrel because it has to have contact down the channel. Brainless design! [img]images/icons/mad.gif" border="0[/img]

Larry,<P>The one screw design is not "brainless", it it "cheapness". Many rifles built this way can be easily improved by drilling a second hole in the stock, one at the rear of the action and put a second screw to hold the mecanism. <BR>I saw the results with one CZ, it was just plain unbelievable: 20 rounds in a one inch hole at 100 meters. The combination of Kolti barrel and a two scew attached, bedded action gave an awesome rifle.<BR>I suggest you try this with your marlin, then buy an anschutz 1415 or 1416, or cheaper, a cz silhouette (compsite stock, clone of the well made mc millan one) and the customize it. I swear you will love the piece.<BR>olivier
