If you have to walk much, I'd pick a different gun. That is one heavy SOB.

Like tzone said, they are weighty. But if you have your heart set on an auto, you can't do any better in the reliabilty or accuracy dept. than a BAR.
I don't have any experience with the Long trac or Short trac versions, so I can't speak about them.

You shouldn't have any trouble shooting it left-handed. It is also one of the lightest recoiling 338s I have shot.

I can also vouch for the BAR Safari grade. Me and my buddies hunt with them. 7mm Rem Mag, .30-06 and .308. They are a tad heavy, but they shoot like a dream, recoil is virtually unnoticeable considering, and they are extremely reliable.
If an auto is want you want...the BAR is a solid choice!

I have owned several BARs. The standard calibers are actually well balanced and don't feel as heavy as they are. The magnum calibers are heavier and more cumbersome. All of the BARs that I seen shoot poorly were belted magnums. The standard calibers tend to shoot well.

i dont mind the heavy weight i actually wanted it to be heavy if i wanted a light bar it would be a light stalker the weight really bring recoil down how dose the bar in 338 win mag balance my dad has 1 in 270 win and it balance really well but with the 338 win mag its a heavier barrel?

Luisss, my neighbor has a BAR .338 mag he offered to sell me. He took it in on a loan 6 yrs ago. He nor I know what price would be fair to the both of us. Was wondering if you would share what price range these are falling in. Oh yeah, it is a Belgium made, assembled in Portugal, in very good condition. That is about all I know about it. Thanks, Ron

They are very reliable and accurate - provided you don't try to close them quietly in a tree stand. Make sure it's battery forward 100% of the way.
CLICK... so far I've done it to myself twice.
Operator error.
