CAT, -- AKA -- If It Flies It Dies

I can assure you he is alive and well. I was invited up to his spread last Sunday for a deer hunt. He and Boggy have much in common, almost like a high fence hunt only low fences, trespassers respect and dont cross. The shovel tied to the gate with a sign, "gravedigger" may have something to do with it. We had coffee at the ranch house just before dawn and CAT drove me out to a food plot, (about three miles), and put me in a tent blind, he went to another about 400 yards. I sat in the lawn chair and poured a cup of coffee waiting for light. Before I finished the cup a herd of does came running into the opening and made the fatal mistake of stopping to look back about 100 yards out. The 7-08 came up easy and I popped the only one that didn't have another one behind it. By the time I field dressed it CAT drove up and we loaded her in beside the Honda racing bike he had bought the day before. We drove over to a hay barn, skinned and quartered her for the trip home. We went back to the ranch house where Jen was cooking breakfast, ummm good. After breakfast we went out, (200 yards), to his shooting range and sighted in a couple of my rifles. CAT walked over to the pickup and pulled out a custom rifle he purchased at Dallas Gun Show, 300 Win Mag with comp, recoiled like a 270 Win. It sported a Kales $1200 scope, yes, there is a difference. With a cold cross wind CAT fired two rounds and I fired two rounds, all in less than 1" at 100. CAT and Jen are perfect hosts make you feel like family. I left just after 12 and had the deer in the locker plant at home by 3. CAT puts on no "airs" and is just what he says. -- no

I'd appreciate it if you told him I hope he's still not mad at me, that his account is still in good standing here, and that I hope he starts posting again.

Tell him I promise not to gloat about the election. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

CAT, if you see this post, I apologize for mentioning the DFC thing. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't. I never doubted your claim, just got bothered that DFC lived to fight another day.

Hope all is well, truly.

Rick

Sonnie,

Ditto what Stick said. Although I do catch an occasional post from El Gato Gordo over at AR.

You too have been missed. Please don't be such a stranger.

I don't intend to be blowing smoke up anyones ass, but I think that the three of you Texans (IIFID,BCR and NO) are some of the finest gentlemen I've ever corresponded with. And you are a good portion of the reason why I feel so at home here.

If you happen to talk to Charlie in the near future, let him know that capt_e from the campfire wishes him a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Those wishes apply to yourself and Boggy as well.

Best regards,
Scott

Yep, I still hear from him time to time as well, one of the true good guys in my book!

I am guilty of letting my log cool off for awhile but promice to warm it up starting now. Just sent an e-mail to CAT hoping he will reconsider and return to his log as well. I notice Boggy has backed off a little but he has been having health problems lately like some of us "old timers". CAT and Boggy both are quality folks and don't need anything from any of us but they are a book of information from experience. Anyone would do well to listen to what they say. I would like nothing better than to take both of them on a Colorado hunt for deer or elk either one. Boggy is retiring in May and turning his ranch over to his boys so he has no excuse. CAT is a different story, with five sections of "longhorn cattle"and a young family, getting away may be a problem. Just remember this board was and is a part of us from the begining, it is the responsibility of everyone here to keep the fire burning bright for all to come. Sure some of us take a break and walk in the woods for awhile but look for the light to guide us home. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS AROUND THIS CAMPFIRE. -- no

Sonnie,

Thank you for the update. I miss CAT's input as well and do hope he comes back. Happy to see that you will be more active as well.

I haven't been here much due to IRL issues and am glad to see that some of the old names might be more active.

Best to you all in this holiday season!
