My objective with this build was a lighter weight backpacking rifle for game up to elk but primarily mule deer. Wish list included lightish weight, firing high bc bullets with minimal recoil, and lefthanded componentry. Bullets of choice will be Swift Scirrocco in 130, Berger VLD 140, and 140 accubonds. Think it will work? Build includes: A series Remmy action Hart #2 barrel, 1 in 8 twist, finished at 24.5" PTG firing pin and bolt shroud PTG bottom metal Holland lug Fluting and kung fu shifter by Karl Smithing by Dowling Mcmillan Hunters Edge in gray, finished at 13.75" with .5" pad All metal work coated in Birdsong black T Scoped out weight at 7 pounds 4 ounces

Nice, I know what you can give me for Christmas
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

That is really, really nice! If you get tired of it, my birthday is once a year...
I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

Nothing not to like about that rig. Personally I would have gone just a touch skinnier on the barrel, but I can dig it. I'm digging that color combo as well, I have two grey Edges on order for my hunting rifles.

I tried out a Nula with a #1 and at 5 pounds I just couldn't get used to it. This is the 3rd build with a Hart #2 and I really like them.
I was very happy with the grey stock, but the olive and black look good also. This is the first PTG bdl metal I have used and am pleased with how flush it fits. Nice upgrade for the money.

Not to many bad bullets in 6.5. Don't overlook some of the 120gr. pills. They should be more then enough for mule deer and still have really good BCs. The Nosler 120gr. BT has a really good reputation.

Very nice MM. Are they CDS dials on that scope?
If so, how do you find them. Are they firm enough that they won't get bumped in the field?

I'd say you are definitely in business with that set up. Congratulations on a nice build.

Slobber, drool! That is perfection! The bolt is even on the correct side! moosemuncher, shoot me a PM if you ever get tired of it. Maybe we can work a swap on another lefty rig.

Thanks for the compliments guys. After many years of righthanded hunting, I finally gave in to my left eye dominance last year and actually shot pretty good using my kid's rifles. Learned a lot from the campfire over the years.
The CDS turret seems to be very firm and has definite clicks when turning. We like our M1s a lot as well, but can't wait to get this one out for a trial run.

MM, I used the 130 gr Berger VLD in my 6.5-'06 on a pronghorn hunt, and it would do well for deer too. They look like 3,000 fps just sitting there...jim
