Don't know, it looks like an airbrushed photo. Did they have airbrushes in the 50's? Either way, it looks like a "touched up" portrait. We have a couple of family member portraits from that era done up like that, unfortunately, no one in my family looked that good. Best picture I've seen of her famous violet eyes.
