What originally began as a search for a .35 Whelen has ended up as a quest for a 9.3 x 62...
I became aware of this interesting and useful old caliber from talking with gents like Ray Atkinson on the hunting forums and decided that I cannot live without one..
Problems arose when I decided that I wanted a Tikka All weather stainless/synthetic in this caliber... Beretta, who now imports Sako and Tikka, will not import rifles in this caliber into the states in quantities of less than five rifles..
A dealer friend of a friend of mine is currently searching to find me one...
If he cannot, I've decided to Buy a CZ....They are readily available stateside and are reportedly a good buy for the money..

Pygmy,
You can get a CZ and that may be the least expensive route. You may be able to find an old used Husqvarna also, but they are scarce...
you could purchase a used Ruger, or Winchester an rebarrel.....Lothar Walther make absolutely wonderfull barrels, but go to them direct and not to Blackstar...Other makers have 9.3 barrels also....
------------------
Ray Atkinson
atkinsonhunting.com
208-326-4120

I'll second Ray on that and heartily recommend Lothar Walther barrels. Look up their website.
------------------
Andr

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.

Ray and Andre......thanks for the advice..
Both of you are very knowledgeable regarding the 9.3 and I respect your opinions..
I've considered rebarreling and talked to my 'smith about it.....
I decided rather than spend the extra bucks I'd go with the CZ, if I can't get the Tikka....
I WILL have a rifle in that caliber, one way or another......... Pygmy, if the CZ is remotely as beautiful as the one in the catalog, the rifle is gorgeous. Good luck.
Talus

Hi , i bought a 9.3x62 yesterday ,in a used Mauser M96 linear action , topped with a Bushnell holosight . A european famous caliber said to be top of the list in boar medicine with Vulkans ( TUGs for others ). Tried it instantly on running boar moving target at the range : very powerfull cartridge though managable recoil , not an ear blaster . I ll sight the gun with regular optics to test the ability of the cartridge / barrel . I ll tell more on terminal ballistics when the boar season resumes . Keep us updated with your results . Heard many reports of 150 kg boars
instant kills . Well , yes , a well placed bullet is a well placed bullet .

I was fortunate enough to recently find a used Sauer 200 having several barrels including a 9.3x62. Been cooking up some loads with the Nosler partitions and luck forward to trying them soon.
a nice all-weather option would've been a Blaser R93, it was mentioned on another forum that you can now get the 9.3x62 barrel for that slick little setup
you just missed a sale at Midway on the Norma brass, last month

You can get the SIG SHR 970 in 9.3 X 62. Check the SIG over seas web site. (not SIGARMS)
