I have a line on a 600 rem. action, but I don't have any experience with, how does it compare to the 700 rem action to build a 284 win. on?

The 600 action is lighter and shorter. I would go with the 700 action for the 284 size case. A short action 700 will require the bullet to be seated deep into the case.Rick.

The 600 action would be fine for your .284. The bolts are a little funny but they are a good solid action. I haven't seen a 600 that wouldn't shoot tiny groups with little fuss.

I believe it could be argued that the 600 boasts a rigidity advantage over the 700. Mag boxes are identical in their constraints.

Of the three 25-284's I have on hand,I'm thinking that the one on the 600 is the most accurate, despite it being far and away the lightest in weight.

The 700 is an easier build, because there is more componetry suited expressly for it,but the 600 can/will/does deliver...................

There aren't many stock options for a 600/660 action, so it is pretty much limited to McM or Bansnar. There is, or was, a Remington 7 pattern inletted for a 600/660 action on McM's specials page, but it was still $350.

If you are into syntehtic stocks, Bell & Carlson makes their Carbilite,I'm partial to the Freedom Green cammo, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
XS makes ghost ring back up sights as well.
