Picked up a mess of 270 grain .375 round-nose soft point bullets, believe they're old Hornady bullets, but not sure.

Anyone have experience with these? I'd think they'd do fine on game at reasonable ranges.

Most likely they are Hornady bullets and wil work fine - like most older Hornady cup and core bullets if held to reasonable velocities they work very well - and are accurate too.

Pretty good bullets and I would not push them over about 2400 to 2500 FPS, depending on what your hunting..I personally always prefer 300gr to 350 gr. bullets in a .375. If I want a lighter bullet then I drag out the .338 or 9.3x62..but since you got a deal on a mess of them, have fun, they will kill anything out there I'm bett'en.

Thanks Phil, am thinking about 2500 - 2600 fps loads, for elk & black bear. That ought to work at modest ranges!

Good call Ray, but I don't have any of those medium bores between my .30-06 and my .375, and it's likely to be a while before I spring for the big African Cape Buff trip, so meanwhile, I'm having fun turning this .375 loose on our elk, bear & even mule deer here in the Pacific Northwest. Hence the interest in 260 - 270 gr bullets.

Am pretty sure these 270 RN's are old Hornady bullets. I've had several buddies who used to hunt with a .375 sell me their loading supplies at great prices, but it's led to me having quite a variety of different bullets on hand. I'd really rather just have one bullet for the rifle and will eventually work my way there as I shoot up all these other odds and ends.

Regards, Guy
