I went into the main office of Montana FWP here in Helena today, and they have the mounted head of what would have been the state record, if it had been taken legally. It is a typical 4 point with beautiful mass, nice width- everything is in just perfect proportion. It has two (less than 1 inch, I think) stickers down near the base on the right side. I can't remember ever seeing a better balanced rack. I think if this deer was standing in a field with nothing else to compare him to, he might not look as spectacular, jujst due to being so well balanced in terms of width, height, mass and beam and tine lenght. Anybody that is as infatuated with antlers as I am ought to stop and see it.

Was that the one that was killed by the guy who threatened to kidnap Letterman's kids? If it was, he killed that right up where i used to work on the same land.

Here's that buck.....Its a giant.. The Letterman buck is an incredible animal no doubt about it. Think I saw it in a sport shop in Msla or somewhere like that? I also saw the Spyder bull when it was at the P-Horn and to me slam dunk the buck is the one that impressed me. Dober

Fall of 86 or so I was in the area and on the last day of Nov came across a rather interesting sight...14 bucks that I would call mature all on one hillside... My buddy missed a total corker that was 28" or so on the main frame and his H's had the mass of a hippo! Dober

To bad some one who waits a life time to draw that breaks tag and some fwp sting goes bad and they get to hang it in there office. The tag holders should have sued the FWP.

I do not think anything they had no case. I think they just wanted that ram and used that fella to get it.

Sorry to hijack your thread Royce, but since it's already too late... Another Lewton Hunt Gone BadLast year on bowsite.com, Mr. Hall touted the fact that Mr. Lewton accompanied him. The Hall/Lewton entourage trespassed to get to the sheep then the hunter gave a false kill site location. The Lewton/undercover warden entourage also allegedly trespassed and the warden was given a false kill site location to report. Does this constitute coincidence or a MO?

two quotes from that article.
first was "unanimous not guilty verdict"
and from Jim Kropp, FWP chief of law enforcement: "This investigation focuses on the protection of our treasured resources for the future."
that statement sounds kinda funny after FWP officers shot and killed that ram, all for nothing it seems.
