I have a 7x57 mm Mauser and have FINALLY finished putting together some cast bullets. They are 3 berring lubed, gaschecked, and sized, have the cases ready to load, now I have not a clue as to what powder will drive these 168 grain beauties accurately. What are the suggestions from the mob? [Linked Image]

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

Blammer.... try 2400 or IMR 4227. My Lyman manual suggests starting at 14.0 gr. with 2400, and to start at 18 gr. with IMR 4227.
Maximum load with 2400 is listed as 18.0 gr.
Maximum load with IMR 4227 is listed as 22.0 gr.
Most accurate load tested was 18.0 gr. of 2400.
If this is an imported rifle, you are probably already aware that groove diameters can vary considerably. If you don't have a Lyman reloading manual, they are great for the cast bullet shooter. Good luck. LC
[This message has been edited by Loud Cloud (edited March 17, 2001).]

Blammer, I can add nothing to what Loud Cloud said-I am reading the same Lyman manual he is! My 1895 Mauser Chileno likes 18.0 grains of 2400, magnum primers and NO fillers because I am afraid to use them. Good luck, curmudgeon
