On a quest to find my grandfather's 99. I will pay a reward if you can put me in touch with the person that has it. I will most certainly buy the rifle from you if you have it. It is a 22HP, SN 146865. I would appreciate it if you could all keep your eyes open for it! Thanks!

Hey Joe,
I live in Nebraska now. I sold it about 10 years ago while I lived in Kansas. I sold it to an older man who lived in Oklahoma if memory serves me. Thanks for the reply.

O.K., so were looking for an 1899 model H T/D I'm presuming somewhere in the Kansas area?
Ricks from Kansas, thats your best bet, see if he has the number listed in any of his files.

It is like a needle in the haystack but goodluck! There is an old fellow who frequents the shows in southern Ontario and northern New York state. He was a world War Two veteran and he checked every Enfield rifle searching for the one he carried during the war. At a US show his friend found him crying over a table ... he had found and purchased "his" rifle. I know the feeling, my dad sold six Savages before I realized he was selling off his collection .. I am still keeping my eyes open for them ... know where three are but they aren't for sale yet. Bill R

One never knows, Don't give up,
I recovered my Father's 1899A Short Rifle in 32-40 last year. It was on the East Coast.....
My father sold off most of his collection years back as well. I was not as interested then as I am now and bought what I could from him.
99's are my secondary collection, so gotta spread the money around a little...
Good Luck,
Chris

Sorry, not in my records. Most of my serials have come from my rifles, forum members and the action catalogs. I'll put a note in my data base.

Joe,
My primary collecting interest has nothing to do with guns.
It's antique Canadian canning jars! I guess they may have been used for target practice years ago!
As with anything else people collect, they are examples worth thousands..... go figure.

I've got a whack of antique canning jars down on the island, maybe I'll dig through the boxes one day and you can tell me if they're worth anything, got a bunch of old antique bottles and milk bottles to.

Only Red Wing I know of Rick, are the ones sitting on their butts in Detroit while I'll spend entirely to much time on the computer.
BTW, did you see Canada beat the Czechs butt in the juniors play-offs today!
