Try doing a search. Much has been previously discussed about those rifles. Pretty much all good as far as I'm concerned.

They are great, but the triggers are terrible.

If you like a nice trigger you'll think the MOA or POS as I call it is a total turd. Stupid on their part to switch away from the original M70 trigger.

On my featherweight, the MOA isn't a terrible trigger. It adjusted down to right around 3 lbs and breaks cleanly with minimal creep. I'm still not 100% sold on the idea of the new trigger, but mine isn't terrible. Perhaps not as simple and reliable as the old trigger but ymmv.

I have two of them fortunately I have not been ruined by the pre 64 as I have not shot one. I like the guns they have been very accurate and I was able to lighten the triggers up my self. Triggers are crisp no play and break cleanly.
Statjunk have you shot any of the new winchesters?

If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer or elk but how he hunted it.

I have two of the new mod 70 and I like them a lot (I just ordered a mcmillan stock for one of them).
I also really like the trigger, will its not a benchrest trigger its just about perfect for hunting. They break crisply at around 3 pounds and there is almost no overtravel.

The sales rep at Cabelas called them "clubby" and I have to agree. Nice rifle, I just wish the stock wasn't so thick, especially in the wrist area. I don't think I could love one.

My statement regarding wrist area really didn't make sense...beena loooong day at work. I meant the thickness of the forearm and grip.

I've shot one of them. Dry fired the other extensively.
The one that's been shot is accurate. I'd say it's averaged around the .75" mark. I like the rifle in every way except for the trigger.
Yes it's creep free but it's heavy and cannot be easily smithed like the original. I did have one smithed and it improved dramatically but it cost me $60 and it's still not as good as the original. Depending on where you put your finger on the trigger you get a very different feel. Even minute differences in finger placement cause this.
Overall happy, just pissed no aftermarket trigger available.

Ain't seen a bad one yet outta 4 of them... Make that 5 with mine included. It IS AWESOME, in 7-08. Only took one range session to find TWO loads that shoot 3 shots into 1/2" groups at 100 yards. That is a first for me. Most rifles take several range sessions to find loads that shoot. Looks, workmanship(Fit and Finish), accuracy, balance, great lines. No flies on the new FN Model 70's.

Tom Looking at my FN M70, it looks like you could convert this rifle back to its original design quite easily. There are still 3 receiver holes for the middle screw and 2-piece bottom metal. I think the trigger would be easily switched out too.
