I was in a gun store today and noticed a Browning 1886 50-110 SRC - NIB on the shelf. What a nice looking and handling rifle. Does anyone know what year these were produced, how many, and approximate value. Any other info on these rifles would be great - how do they shoot?...I wouldn't mind owning this rifle.
I own a couple of original 1886 rifles but they are getting too valuable to shoot and hunt with.
Thanks.......

I wonder if this is one of the "black powder only" rifles? I know I've seen Browning 1886s in .45-90 that are "BP only"...just wondering if these would be to.

It must be a rebored custom 1886 replica you saw.
To my knowledge ,Browning has ONLY made the 1886 carbines in 45-70 from the factory. The only 50-110 Miroku made replica 1886 rifles out there are Doug Tunbull and other custom rebores.

Hey jim62, check out this closed auction...it is for a WINCHESTER 45-90 made recently. I was mistaken thinking it was a Browning, although the maker Miroku makes rifles for both Winchester and Browning. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164981135

After looking at the rifle again it is not NIB but very slightly used. The rifle is at Cabelas in Billings MT. for those who want a peek at it. I'm guessing a rebarrel job but I'm an antique winchester accumulator and know nothing about the newer winchesters/brownings etc.

A few years back there were two or three custom 'smiths who offered cartridge changes in the 50 express. I recall seeing one very nice conversion on a Browning 1886 with pistol grip and 26" barrel shortened to 22". I can't recall if the barrel was roll marked or inscribed with the new cartridge moniker, but it was a tip off that what this was was a custom gun. I recall one load was the 450grain Barnes flat point at an honest 1750 fps. I just can't recall who made the hollowpoint for the 300 grain express load, but this was good for 2,200 fps with smokeless powder, of course for both loads. To say that this gun thumped your shoulder was an understatement. I imagine you could use this gun on anything that walks-or runs. What do they want for it?
