Nice! I just received a Brux barrel and that was all I was waiting for to build my 257AI. Mine will not have the bolt bells and whistles that your has, but I sure hope mine turns out as great-looking as yours.

Great looking rifle Ted. Well thought out.

I don't always venture out into the sub-freezing darkness, but when I do, it is deer hunting season, and I carry a Remington. Stay hungry my friends.

That's awesome! Not much you couldn't do with that rig. At some point I'd like something very much along those lines. I really like the lines and looks of the Bansner stocks.

Thanks all. Grand - CAS can be reached via the email on his site: http://www.riflestockpainting.com

Bigmbass - Brownells does carry this rifle rest, but they are on the pricey side. I was fortunate to pick this one up at a reduced price last year. I have been pretty pleased with it so far.

VERY NICE.

Ted, what brass? If RP, you might get an edge using reformed 7/08 WW brass, or try Nosler.

.6 is not bad at all for a hunting rifle that light, and if you get better great, but that's a nice rifle, esp. for a Rem!

BTW, the 139s and 130s have a good reputation as you must know, and if the throating likes it those Bergers should shoot great as well. DO try some 130 Accubonds wink My son's Sako shot 3 groups at 200 yds, 2 of those groups shot the FIRST TWO ABs into the SAME HOLE, 3rd into about a 1.25 group. Those 2 groups used FC 308 and 7/08 brass respectively. RP brass shot 3 into roughly the same group, but not overlapping 2 of 3. This was w/a 6.5-20 Leupold for testing so you might not see your absolute best accuracy, but .3-.5 MOA should not be out of the realm w/your scope at all.

Lastly, H4350 is another fav in that round right w/your 4831, and IIRC, David Tubb used VV160 long ago in his 6.5/308.

Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing the pics of your build.

What are the advantages of the 260 AI over the 260?

Speed, brass life?

Potential increase of 75-150 mv, less case stretch/need for trimming.

Con: Potentially feeding issues, apparently more confined to DBM's in Sniper rifle set ups.

Well, with a 260 (rather 6.5-08) build in the works aagin, on a SUCKs 700SA...

I have a monster chubby. I can tell that I'll have to send my bolt off to Karl laugh

Did you have to do anything with the box or rails to get the AI to feed well?

Don't forget to give RL19 a whirl with the 140's. Its always been a top performer in my 260's.

65BR - I have been using Rem brass at this point, checking the neck thickness and culling out the ones with more then .0015" variation. With the last two bags of brass (50 ct) its been working out to about a 20% rejection rate.

Silver State Armory is suppose to be making 260 Rem brass by the end of the Summer. I have heard nice things about their 308 Win brass and plan to give their 260 Rem brass a try when its available. I've been shooting Nosler brass in my 280AI and have been happy with that brass.

DanAdair - No problems with feeding to report and I have not modified the rails or box at all.

Ted,

My answer from SSA 4/29,

SSA will be making the brass, hopefully in the next few months. As for the bullets I expect Barnes & Nosler.

Thanks,

Jeff

Funny as I have heard little on this, but inquired recently as to when SSA was coming out w/ammo/brass, and if it was there brass, or RP. I am told CorBon using RP brass, and I believe the ltd. run by GAP w/139 Lapua (maybe done by Black Hills), and it's been fairly accurate from reports, but I see room for improvement. I hope SSA prices competitively, and expect them to do so.

FYI, http://www.snipercentral.com/match260ammo.htm

Looks like Lapua shot themselves in the foot w/o mfg. 260 brass. Their '47' is a nice round, but they cornered the market on it's brass. Having an increasing number of ammo and brass for the 260 will get this round back on track as it deserves. We need this and more guns from the industry to support it. If only we had some nice heavy bbl'd rifles.....as my 75 Sako Varmint.....
