Plain vanilla pre 64 Model 70, 270 Winchester with a Leupie 6.5-20EFR. Was my silhouette(500 meters) rifle for years. No problem scoring center hits on the 800 yard gong at the club. Ain't a 700 but I just had to put it up.

Nice color scheme. Is that a .338 Lapua necked down ro 6,5? That thing must rock. Twist for 142SMK?
It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Nice color scheme. Is that a .338 Lapua necked down ro 6,5? That thing must rock. Twist for 142SMK? Not a 338 Lapua. It's about a 3yr old design brought out by Lapua. The case is 47mm long. Kind of a mini 260 Rem on steroids. It uses sm rifle primers so the case will take higher pressures. You're right though; IT ROCKS! Alan

Short action 700 currently sporting a 1:12 twist Kriger chambered with the '95 Palma reamer for .308 Win. McMillan A1-3 stock, Badger base and rings, 4.5-14x Leupold, Turner sling. I've been shooting the same rifle for about 15 years now and have been through several different barrels over the years. Good, basic rifle that tosses bullets pretty well. Regards, Guy This rifle oozes character. The worn blueing on the bolt handle and the emblem on the hat speaks consistancy to me. I like it. GB

Obviously, not a purely long range one here, but a well-used and proven one for me. Rem LA 700 .340 "B"; 24" Shilen Prem barrel, .67" at the speaker end. Leup QR R&Bs with 8x40s (finally shot a base loose) and the spec is a Leup 2.5-8x; 3-pos safety; Brown Prec, Classic stock on its 3rd paint job. Has put the smack-down on three bull elk and a caribou just a couple steps this way of 500 yds. and more than a few further in. Eight and a half lbs on the mountain which is a little more than I like any more but it's my nostalgic favorite and has not let me down. Nothing mystical about material-powder, brass, and lead-but after awhile you can learn to love a cartridge,..and a rifle.

"Well-used and proven" are often overlooked factors in any accuracy equation.
