A 2.5-10x32 Sightron S2 looks great. Small with good weight and magnification. Most of my shots are under 100 yards but its is nice to reach 300 yards when needed. Matte scope with matte Talley light weights I think will look good. Now I got to go look through a sightron and see how they compare. This is a go to fun shooter for varmits, wolfs, coyotes, jacks, mule deer, and just what ever is fun.

According to Sightron when I called them, they say that optically, the S2 falls in-between the VX11 and the VX111. After I got the S2, I compared it side by side with my other VX111 and really couldn`t tell hardly any difference.
Bought that S2 from another poster here and it is the perfect size for my carbine and should work very well for a BLR as well.
The 7/08 is a very capable deer round beyond 300 yards. Although you`ll probably never need 8x to 10x for hunting, those powers are great magnifications on the range in a more compact sized scope like this S2.

But at 300 yards iron sights don't cut it.

Daypacker;
Use a stock pack (Eagle Industries makes a superb one); that'll fix the comb issue.

That's not a bad idea, albiet a bit... homely.
The comb of the BLR's I've had was odd. A little too high for the irons, and too low for the scope.

TimZ How is the recoil on that 300 WSM? It's not too bad for hunting, but at the bench it's kind of nice to have a Past recoil shield..... Sorry I didn't know the Conquest 2.5-8 was discontinued, it's just a hair smaller than the Leupold and definitely works well with these rifles. Think you'll definitely like it better with a matte scope as opposed to silver.

I like the limb savers recoil pads myself. When at the bench I use a Past recoil shield when shooting the 300 or 375 mags. Even with the 30-06 the pad kills a lot of the recoil.
I going with a matte scope and matte rings. Some how the silver just don't look right. Later I want to pickup a BLR in 300 or larger.
