Cumberland Tactics (Randy Cain) will conduct a 3 day Practical Rifle Course on June 25-27 at the Central Oregon Shooting Sports Association (COSSA) ranges (http://cosa.netgarage.net/).

Randy Cain is a life time shooter and hunter with LEO experience including urban, rural, and SWAT, and is widely acknowledged as one of the top practical rifle instructors in the country. He has taught at Gunsite, Yavapai Firearms Academy, and as a Jeff Cooper Master Series Instructor. For a complete biography please visit his website: http://www.guntactics.com/index.htm .

This course is best suited to lightweight, fast handling bolt action rifles with iron sights or low power scopes. Lever rifles are also permitted. The format explores practical marksmanship at practical distances under field conditions. Problems are addressed from near contact distance out to 400 yards maximum. It is not a "long range" shooting course.
The course is suitable for the person who wishes to utilize the rifle as a defensive tool as well as the hunter in the sporting field. This 3 day course will do more for your ability to take accurate shots at animals under actual field conditions than many days of traditional bench rest shooting.

It begins with curriculum including: safety, marksmanship, position shooting, sling work, and a working knowledge of practical ballistics. Once established, the focus turns to learning to shoot quickly with a "common, ordinary deer rifle." It incorporates tactical drills which are more traditionally encountered in 'tactical rifle' or 'urban carbine' type courses for magazine fed rifles. This exercise will give the student a superior level of gunhandling and manipulations skills. It's challenging, and it's a lot of fun! (It's also one of Randys favorite classes to teach.)

A 3-day course. Ammunition Requirement: 500 Rounds of rifle ammunition (fmj is fine match ammunition is not required)
