Im looking for a low power scope with a quick acquisition type reticle. A dot or circle/crosshair combo would be great, maybe a post? What do you guys prefer?

What is the reicle like? Ive recently tested a trijicon accupoint with the illuminated post and it wanted to shoot whatever I pointed it at. I have heavy duplex reticles but looking for something a little faster.

Leupold VX-I 1x4x20mm Heavy duplex shotgun scope , works very well for close in work on a rifle. Luepold VX-II 1x4x20mm standard duplex. I use these on my coyote calling rifles, their wide FOV's make them superb for heavy cover.

Elite 4200 1.25x4x24mm #4 German w/Ill. Dot. This is a heavier scope but works well for me out here in the Olympic Penninsula Rain forest, dark low light conditions even at mid day.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Im sporterizing a .303 british for my girlfriend to shoot and want it to fill the 0 to 120 yard range gap in my battery. I believe ill have the barrel shortened to 22 inches and want a scope that fits these needs. All my other rifles have heavy duplex or fine duplex. I would like something more suited to shooting moving game at closer ranges or just for quick shots.

The Elite 4200 that Erich mentioned is a fantastic scope and I happen to know where I can get one for $325 (normally $499).

Another good scope for your needs is the Burris Signature 1.75-5x32 with the LRS Fast Plex reticle that I recently traded for here on the 'Fire. Heavy crosshairs with a heavy illuminated center.

I have an old RedField from back in the 70's. It is a 2X7 power and it has a heavy post. Not the best for bench rest shooting, but it is the berries for fast acquisition. I believe the company that makes the ACOG also has a post like this. But that one is illuminated. Which would probably be better.

I also like the Leupold Gilmore red dot sights, with the big dot. It is fantastic for quick shots out to 100 yards. Tom.

Not much faster than a Trijicon but a bit more than I believe you want to spend.

Kahles 1.5-6 X42 4a reticle in the first plane. When I first used it thought it was fair and un-decided about the Reticle.
When I used my son's 3-9 plex I realised how comfortable i had become with the Kahles.

For the stated purpose there is nothing better than a Holosight.

A couple of things:

Scope mounts for Enfields are not very friendly to low-mounting, quick acquisition set-ups. I have, and have had, several.

The fastest sight set-up on that you're going to find is the rear sight already on it, if it's a No.4. If it's a No.1, have it D&T'd for a Williams Fool-Proof receiver sight.

The only faster option, and I've yet to play with this one, and it's not a cheap route, is to have an XS Systems Scout Mount set-up installed when you have the barrel chopped, and run a Scout scope set-up. I plan to do one, eventually, but just haven't gotten around to it, yet.

Good advice here from VA.

The receiver mounted peepsight is highly underrated.
