There was an EG for auction on gunbroker a year or so ago. A 99EG in 22hp 22" barrel drilled for side mount scope. I think Steve 1899sav bought it. Sold by a collector in El Paso. Only one I have ever seen.

Hi Johno
the Henery sold for 32,500.00 back to the person that owened it 20 years ago he sold it then for 6000
I lean more to doing a custom on the other action have to try and work out the Cal
The 99E has slight vise jaw engraving pattern on the sides
A strip back for reblueing would remove it
At the moment I need to keep the house and 2 cars that way I might keep the wife
The prices relized are up on the teds auction web page
Cheers Graham

Have never even held one, not much ambition to. Just never got the itch for one, passed on a real nice F in 22H.P. once. Funny huh? Started off long ago hoping to get the 4 Savage calibers and now I really don't even care if I do. I had two 1895's come through my door last week and picked up another one yesterday.

I know what you mean Joe. I have no desire for a .300 in anything. The only .300 I own is a 1920. Not that I have anything against it, I tend to shy away from common calibers and gravitate toward the oddball stuff. (Don't say it!!)

Drew,

Even though doing an import is a bit difficult its a lot easier than an export. An import only has to get approval from ATF. An export needs approval from the ATF and the State Dept. Having said that, I don't do either. At least not so far. Would have to be something I wanted really bad to import. Export....well, talk to Hillary. wink grin

only 14 300s in my safe crazy blush ( few are being sold soon-time to clear room and fund some other buys)

Now, this is thread is about solid frame HPs!!! I will add that I own two solid frame HPs both EGs, both with 22" t/d barrels... one I am fairly certain is gunsmith gun.... the other I believe is correct but looking for info to help me validate my opinion.

So far, only one person has ever seen a solid frame HP that they were sure was a non t/d barrel. If someone does not want to post publicly, please PM me.

Cheers

Smells of a rebarrel. The imp never came out until about 1914 or serial number 160,000.

Stever, Drew is trying to determine if all of the .22HP barrels on solid frame rifles, made between WWI and WWII, used take-down barrels. You need to pull the forearm and look for the take-down slot in the bottom rear of the barrel. smile

aka mkbenenson.

Two solid frame 22HP rifles with TD barrels, is there any way to tell, without removing barrels, whether these are interrupted thread or not?

1. Ser. no. 270773 Featherweight, 22" brl, straight grip, all shot out and wood cracked and battered, action OK but blue bad, have good wood and a 24" Westfield, Mass. new brl. for it. Action is above the 266,000 revised heat treatment point.

2. Ser. no. 365823, EG model, sold it several years ago, bore was only, say, 95%, which was not good enough for me in those days.

They both probably have ramps for the front sights. Anyways interrupted barrels were long gone by the time these were produced. They disappeared around 200,000 mark.
