RJM;
But with a stock cylinder you have 6 things that could be wrong:chambers. And at least 9 that are:6 bolt notches, center hole, OD, OAL. and then you have to check the frame, is the bore comcentric to the threads......

Are your bores concentric to your barrel.....

Beyond that, yeah, that would work. :-)

And maybe you want a 5 shot..........

I think it may be less expensive if you find one of the 5.5" stainless Bisleys and have the barrel shortened. Having a .41 stainless barrel made will cost you a bunch...

I have to get my teenaged nephew to show me how to post pictures.(Hanging head in shame.)

I have done some machine work for 30 years or so, some making aircraft parts and some making gun parts.

Holding tenths makes one picky.

Shot the new Flat Top today...at 25 yards it took three rounds to adjust to dead center in a B21 X-ring...then 8 of the 10 hit the X and two just below it.

First 6 rounds at 50 could be covered with my hand. Gun shows excellent potential.

This load was 8.0 grains of Unique with a 210 Berry's plated bullet...velocity from a 4" barrel is 950+-. Extreme accuracy with 8.0 no matter what bullet is on top for whatever reason...but use a very tight crimp to promote complete and uniform powder burning...

Very nice. I've had two Ruger BH's in 41 mag with 6.5" bbls and they shot like they got paid for it!

RJM, I just aquired a blackhawk .41 4 5/8" and have Berry's 210 and unique, 8 grains is exactly the load I've been looking at. When you say a "very tight crimp" are you using a roll crimp or taper crimp die. Nice trio, Thanks Rick

Get one of the Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Dies... As these bullets don't have a crimping groove this die does a better job than a standard roll crimp...

65...no, the 657 MG is still my favorite "if I only had one revolver". Just needed to break out the SAs for a change. Last week I also shot the 1980 vintage 4" 57 I have not shot in a few years and shot a hand size group at 50 yards DA...

Bob, I won't challenge you in a pistol match wink I regret selling my 57 4", shot well.

I also regret not finding mild/moderate loads before selling some nice handguns.

My experience brought me to Universal Clays, about 1.5 grains LESS than Unique. Flows/Meters better, and shoots cleaner, more shots per lb. for same performance load.

New shoes....didn't like the checkered plastic grips so I bought this set of GunBroker...they fit nice and are a little thicker than the slim factory grips.

With heavy loads the factory checked ones really were not pleasant to shoot...

Sssppppt, my younger brother called me the other day and asked if I wanted to buy back the OMBH 41 shorty I sold him more than 10 years ago smile

Bob, I guess I will stock it like yours, looks good. Need to decide what sights I want as I want to upgrade. FA makes nice ones, not sure what options are for the Rugers.

Great for you 65BR...I can highly recommend these people for grips...

www.grips4guns.com

They have Bonded Ivory, which has ivory dust mixed into the polymer. The grips I bought for the Flat Top are from GunBroker but just received 4 sets of grips4guns Bonded Ivory grips for several S&W revolvers and they were the nicest I have ever handled.

Sights...find a great pistolsmith like Clement Custom Guns or Bowen and he will mill off the front blade and then pin in a custom height semi-Patridge blade. What you will need to do is find your load and then adjust your rear sight several clicks from bottoming out so there is some horizontal adjustment and then see if your favorite load shoots to POA. If it doesn't, then shoot it at 25 yards and put a note in with the gun how much higher or lower the group is from POA and the smith can put the front blade on to match. You can also have blades of different heights made for different weight bullets. Once properly fitted, all one has to do is drift out the pin, pull out one blade and put in the desired one.

Another option is to have the smith remove the front sight base and silver solder on a Weigand Single Action Front Sight Body from Brownells (#957-000-058AC) that has quick change blades.

Clement can make a Keith Long Range Front Sight Blade. If you look over on my post about Freedom Arms Porn you will see the one he made for my M83...

Lots of options...Bob

Thanks much Bob for the info, btw - any 'downside' to the collector value of the OM by doing a front sight mod?
