I am currently using RL-22 and H-1000 with the Barnes TSX 168gr.in the .300Win.mag.The powder burn rate charts lists H-450 midway between the two.Is the H-450 an Extreme powder? It is not listed in the Hodgdon load book that I have.Is it a new powder?Has anyone have any experience with H-450?If so,please enlighten me!Thanks,Jim.

Jim,

H450 is a slow burning powder that's spherical. Hogdon discontinued it a while back although you may find some surplus every now and then. Dave in WV and I used to use it in 243 and had great results. Now I use H4831 which is close in burn rate.

Used it for years. about the same as 4831. Main advantage was it fed a whole bunch more accurate then the extruded powders. I never noticed any problems with temperture change.
Getting real hard to find.

If you can get your hands on some surplus WC852 [slow lot] the burn rate is almost identical to old H450. Watch out here, there is another lot of WC852 that is considerably quicker burning. Another one that is quite slow, similar to H450 is WC760 [Slow lot # 131.] Regards, Eagleye.

Also, may be about the same as the discontinued WMR ball powder from Winchester. The newer WXR (extruded) is around the same burn rate too. WXR and RL-22 are kissing cousins and both made in Sweden. BM
