Loggah,
'Said you wanted to know how it shoots--the answer is "Great"!
Heres pics of it this wk, with an old Tasco/Japan 1.75X40mm scope and some rings I had kicking around.
Detail is on target (all I had was one for small bore at 100 yds)--100 yds, Center to center .545" w 3 shots, 4 shots at .745", about 1" if you add bullet dia.
Federal Premium 150gr. factory ammo.
I numbered the shots and walked them down to the bull--shot 2 I went way to low and had to come back up. Shots 6 and 8 cut the same hole. Then mounted your Redfield and got it down to 1" at 25 yds, but ran out of ammo for the day.
Will take it out next wk--think I can get it to 1" at 50 yds with the Redfield on it--about what I can do with the old Stevens 418 you saw.
Heres the pics;

Thanks! Nothing fancy, but I like it--gotta admit I really like the looks and feel of iron sights.
When I get the Redfield 70 sighted in I'll see how I do offhand and in lower light with it. The Tasco is a "just in case" deal.

BTW--its 300 Sav. of course--has some character marks from the last 56 years but nice overall too. No cracks, no D&T and I kinda like the vintage swivels it does have.
This one's not going anywhere.

Congrats, it looks like you got a sub MOA rifle there.
May I ask what kind of scope base that is on your rifle in the first pic?

Don and Polecat,
Yes, cooked the mount up on the workbench one night (maybe two) crazy last wk. Cold blue and all
Kinda Stith like--but still perfecting it a bit which is part of the reason I mounted it first and then put on the Redfield. Held the scope great though.
I'll keep you posted as I make a few more tweaks to the mount.
"WWDH"? "What Would Deerhunter Do"? Dont know him but he must be OK! grin
