A man offered my little 11 year old friend Andrew $5 a head to "deal with" his groundhog problem.

Andrew talked his dad into dropping him off with his trusty 77/22. Andrew was in a hide alone all day today overwatching a barn. He did not move from his position until he had assassinated the whole family. I think He's got Mafia potential.. : ]

I'm proud of my little buddy.

Exactly,

$25; most of us shell OUT how much $$$$ for hunting in the end?

Good for him. Great patience!
Amazingly, I have never seen one of those nasty things.
Did remind me of my grandfather paying me to shoot nutrias in his tank. Little younger, so I had to use a Benjamin pump .22 caliber pellet. And yes, it will work if you are close.

When I was 10, we still lived on a small farm. I wanted my visiting grandfather to come out and watch me try to plunk gophers with my anemic .177 Czech pellet rifle. He didn't want to, I guess, but he volunteered to pay me a nickel (I worked cheap in those days) for a gopher tail.

By then I realized that this rifle was no death ray, but I had honed my gopher killing technique. You selected your target and stalked as close as possible. Usually the target went down his hole long before I was close enough. No matter, the hole was now marked. I would walk right up to the hole, select which side to try hide behind the gopher when he came out. Now it was just a matter of patience. Sometimes the gopher used a different hole to come out, but sometimes, my patience was rewarded with a one foot shot that would stun the gopher enough that I could reload, or grab the gopher before he kicked down his hole, and then crush his skull with my heel.

Grandpa had to pay up. Nothing better than an ice cold Coke that you bought with your own money.
